Was surprissed to see Van Gaal's comments in the paper saying he doesn't want United players on "long punishing pre season tours" and "wanted United to adapt to the Gaal way" I bet that pleased the board!!

Well I expect Gaal wants to try & keep his players fit & hopefully injury free where as the board want to keep the shareholders happy & make money.

Yes 3-1 with a good comeback from 1-0 down. The game did highlight our weaknesses in defence and Liverpool's too for that matter, though Liverpool were the dominant force in the first half. We need at least one if not two good central defenders to bolster the likes of Jones and Evans and still require a quality central midfielder who can both tackle and pass. Luke Shaw looks quality and is accomplished but as Denis irwin stated recently, he is still learning and will make mistakes. The defence is not as bad as some would make out but they need experience quality players who can drive the ball forward. The team still gives the ball away too easily in my opinion and that is what will cost us over the course of a season if van Gaal dooesn't remedy it before the transfer window closes.

Not worth the tin it is made from. He'll be judged at the end of the season.

In fairness If we didn't have Lambert and his Stone boots up front and instead a striker that was able to move we would have destroyed you!

As a Liverpool fan you know your teams in trouble when Chris Smalling has your main Striker in his back pocket the entire game.

Destroyed us?? The other 9 outfielders could have scored if Lambert is that poor and they are that good. Once we went ahead Liverpool didn't look anything special. I'd say that neither team shone. We certainly need to strengthen our defence and midfield further.

laugh ok not destroyed but i think we would have scored more, I think both teams defence was poor to be honest. We have the worlds most over rated right back in Glen Johnson, sooner he goes the better, and you have Smalling Wink

I think we will both struggle for top 4 this season.

Unconfirmed reports from Spain state United have done a deal to sign Cuadrado.... think I'll wait until its confirmed.
For the second year running the name selling the most shirts in the world is van Persie. Must be worth a few quid Big Grin
