After an initial failure South Korea's parliament successfully votes to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeoul, suspending him from office with the PM stepping in. The decision now moves to the constituitional court, who could take as long as six months to make a ruling, if they rule against Yoon he is out & elections will be held, rule in his favor & he is back in.

Former Man City striker Mikheil Kavelashvili has been appointed President of Georgia by the parliament. Kavelashvili a former MP of the authoritarian pro Putin Georgian Dream party was elected after opposition parties boycotted parliament declaring the Oct elections rigged.

It's being reported (but not on the main news) that the Eiffel Tower is on fire.
The blaze is understood to have been burning in the elevator shaft between the first and second floor of the tower.

1,200 people have been evacuated. Early reports suggest that it is due to the overheating of one of the evavator cables.

Thoughts and prayers are with the families of the 10 dead and 30 injured of the incident in New Orleans which I think is one of America's most beautiful cities.
It happened on the famous Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of the city.

I think they shot the perpretator of this. And one must wonder if security will now be raised for the Inuaguraton ceremony of Trump on 6th Jan.

The Attacker has been named as Shamsud -Din-Jabbar, aged 42 an army veteran from Texas. It is thought there was a IS flag in his vehicle and possible explosive device or devices, and one can only imagine the carnage caused in the area if those devices had exploded.

I wonder how he came to have an IS flag in his possesssion?

^Was it driverless? Or was it parked there for several hours without rasing suspicion then blown up remotely?
A question I'd like to raise is: -
Can a vice president be sworn in on a president's behalf - IF - the security threat was deemed substantial enough to prevent the incumbent president's appearence in public?

The driver shot himself before the explosion, as was widely reported.

I'll take a wild stab at this...

No.
