Such is the nature of politics.
All that matters is climbing the greasy pole of power and clinging on to it for as long as possible Rolleyesbladewave.

So Rishi Sunak is effectively calling for banks like the Co op bank to be shut down because they have an ethical lending and investment policy (for example, no lending and investment in fossil fuels, weapons, tobacco, gambling, etc)

Yes I know. But, it does not stop the Tories and their friends in the media from trying to peddle that lie though.

Rishi Sunak and his party have gone insane. While there are forest fires in multiple locations across the world and floods in multiple locations across the due to climate change. The Prime Minister flies up to Scotland in a private jet to announce expansion of North Sea oil and gas fields. On a side note, in 2014 others of Rishi Sunak’s ilk told the people of Scotland during the independence referendum campaign that there was no North Sea oil and gas left, …strange that?

To add to my previous post, this decision appears to be deterring investors from investing in the UK. Therefore, less high paying jobs being created in this country.

The trouble is, if we vote out this loonylot, could we really put our trust in the lot under Keir Starmer? Who really are the lesser of two evils? Thinking about it when I saw how much profit British Gas/Centrica made it made me wonder just how much of that is in the pockets of the shareholders? And that goes for all businesses. In trying to implement windfall taxes I'm often wondering just how successful it would be because surely it will be met with an appeal in court that ultimately & possibly could end up being a waste of time as those companies will argue any windfall tax imposed, impacts on future infrastructure investment.
