John Harbaugh is out as the Ravens HC after 18 seasons

The rumours had definitely been swirling last month or so and his relationship with Lamar has also been strained by some accounts lately.

Interesting to see if he goes directly to another job or sits out a year first

^^ Interesting that there are alleged to be 7 teams that have made contact with Harbaugh, such is the stature of his coaching calibre.

Miami Dolphins have sacked Mike McDaniel after 4 seasons, has a secret deal already been struck with John Harbaugh ?

RE: NFL 2025-2026 season - Louisetights - 08-01-2026 18:48

So Mike McDaniel is out as the Dolphins Head Coach

The John Harbaugh rumors are already in full flow and the timing does tie in with making a move for him

I doubt it's coincidence he comes on the market and suddenly the position opens up

And Chad Alexander the LA Chargers Assistant GM is seemingly now one of the front runners for the GM position and has worked with both Harbaughs over the past 2 decades in Baltimore and LA.

I'll wait and see what happens from here, a lot will of course depend if Harbaugh even wants the Miami HC job as its not the most appealing opening on the market with a lot of issues to address

Panthers made that closer than most expected but the Rams just survive taking the lead in the final minute

Great opening to the playoffs

Bears 31 - 27 Packers
The game started well for the Bears with a long drive that ate up a lot of clock, but they had to settle for a field goal, that became a pattern for most of the game as their first 3 scoring opportunities resulted in field goals including one early in the 4th quarter.
On the flipside the Packers made the most of their chances & found the End Zone 3 times in the 1st half for a 21-3 lead. I think that the Bears got their tactics slightly wrong. They felt that the Packers had the potential to run up a big score, but I thought they overdid the 4th down gambles, some just handed the Bears great field position. They should've had more faith in their own defence who stepped up in the 2nd half to limit the Packers to just one score & forced them to punt 4 times. The Bears were 2-6 on 4th downs which is a poor conversion rate, they didn't punt once. If they had punted at the right times they would've had no need for such a spectacular comeback.
I think the 2nd half was a combination of good adjustments from the Bears defence combined with the Packers just going cold on offense.
The longer the game went the more inevitable it seemed that the Bears could pull off a miracle. They made it hard for themselves when Williams threw his 2nd interception late in the game & them almost got the ball straight back when the Rams fumbled on their next drive, I wondered if that was the Bears last chance, but they kept fighting, the Bears fans played their part in willing their team to victory.
No team will want to face the Bears after this display. The Bears need to improve in a few areas but Williams will continue to win them a lot a games in the future.

Even this Lions fan was happy about Bears winning. Remember when they all said Packers were a dream team and Super Bowl favourites. Was good to see them humbled. I still think Seahawks Broncos is a lock, but with exciting teams like Bears, Jaguars and Patriots you just don’t know!
