Of course once the mechanism is in place any new hot buzz term can be roped in as they see fit.
There's a bigger problem here when you read the link. If a perants have under 16-18 years olds the odds are they are listening to explicit lyrics in music and music videos and playing video games that have age rated on them as well more people now play games online.if they are worried about this then why not put the perant sensor on the WiFi and on there mobile devices this way unless the kids know the password then they can't watch or play anything online. TV shows went backwards when a lady called Mary Whitehouse complained there was to much sex and violence on TV and she got the watershed time on normal TV. As an m.p told her if there something on TV channel you don't like to watch either change the channel or turn the TV off. If a person wants to do something they will find away no matter in how much protection TV stations, mobile device company's, internet providers can do to stop this

You are thinking too sensibly lol. The Ofcom board doesn't want control given to parents REALLY - though they pander to the idea sometimes. All censors (all quangos) want to stay in POWER. That is motivation number one. Self justification is all. Extending their reach is number two. The rest follows from those things...

The Sky boxes have potential passwords. Internet browsers have parental settings... It all means not a lot to Ofcom in terms of what they will censor because they think parents and guardians of the vulnerable are not to be trusted. Britain has always had this 'Elites* know best' mothering attitude to the great unwashed general populous. Ofcom are the ultimate example of that patronising attitude. Only their unelected version of the great and the good is to be trusted with what you can see and hear because... well the true answer is very comfortable jobs thank you very much.

The repugnant Mary Whitehouse would indeed be cock-a-hoop at the record levels of offence bodies are able to manufacturer today; how people are encouraged left and right (so much self justification in this as I say) to find 'hurt' feelings in every sphere. How we revel as a society in victimhood and cast aside all levels of personal responsibility. The Ofcom panel are the reincarnations of a bunch of Mary Whitehouses though they'd never admit it. Only the excuses have been dressed up for the modern age. The attitude - the assumption of moral authority - is exactly the same.

* Not a word I bandy about lightly.
