I think they made Gods of the Arena earlier than planned in order to give him a chance to recover, which looked likely at one point.

From what I read they just started filming season 2 when he was first diagnosed which was just gonna carry on from the 1st season, gods of the arena was made to give him time to recover

season 2 starts 27th jan, also starz have renewed it for a 3rd season so it makes spartacus the 1st ever starz programme to go beyond 2 seasons. they renewed in november 2011 2 months before the 2nd season started which is rare in the states. even though it no longers has the late andy whitfield (who was destined to be one of the break through actors of 2012) it should be good. the prequal was good but blood and sand (season 1) was brilliant. going to watch the 1st season again to remind myself of what happened.

The prequel and the first season were both brilliant for me.

The 2nd season actually looks pretty great too, obviously it will take time to get used to the new actor (Liam McIntyre) playing Spartacus, but I think he will do pretty well in the role. The only thing about him is that he doesn't really have the physical presence for the role from what I have seen, but I will judge it when I see it properly in a few weeks!

maybe liam mcityre toned up abit for it. hard act for liam to follow. hopefully it has elements of the spartacus story that we know in it.

It is a continuation from the first season, but if you already know the history of Spartacus (learnt it in school) you will know how it should be played out, and so far they are doing an excellent job of it!

i know the story but sometimes when channels do series like this they take liberities with. in merlin it took them 3 seasons to introduce the original knights of camelot, the round table. another season to have arthur pull excalibur out of the stone and the arthur/gwen/lancelot love triangle.

the 1st season gives a very possible history to spartacus. everything about spartacus was when he started the rebelion and led the army slaves and gladiators.

Your correct Terence, she on the cast list of the show along with some new fine young ladies.

I wonder how they are going to explain that dagger that was stuck out of Lucy in the last series?
