However, I've noticed that in dvd-playback mode (not sure about cds, never used it for that), it always gives a stutter/jump about a minute into any dvd. I even did a clean reinstall, but still the same problem. I'm not certain that this will help given that you only experience a single stutter as opposed to regular or continuous stuttering, but you could try increasing the size of the buffer. To do this: 1. Open VLC preferences (might be called 'settings' on a PC?). 2. Enable "All" settings as opposed to just "Basic". 3. Input/Codecs > Access modules > File > Caching value in ms 4. Increase the value (I recently increased mine to 1000 due to stuttering when playing some HD video) You'll notice under 'Access modules' that 'DVD without menus' and 'DVD with menus' are also listed and that you can increase their cache value - these may be the sections where you need to increase the buffer given that you mention 'dvd-playback mode'. RE: Help needed - Deb x - 26-04-2011 23:49 I've no idea what I've just done, but I've followed those instructions and increased the cache value size in those three places to 1000. Now, it's significantly better - the stutter has decreased from several seconds to less than half a second (I'm estimating ) which is quite an improvement - in fact, it's hardly noticeable, unless you happen to be looking for it. Now I know where to make the adjustments I'll have a bit of a play about and see if I can get it running completely smoothly. Thanks ever so much PS. I had no idea how complicated the settings were on vlc [split] Elite TV - General Chat & Discussion - 15martin - 20-05-2011 07:12 Hi Everybody, I'm just looking for some tips as I would like to become a regular vid plus cap poster as I have several pics of the girls that many people may not have seen (nothing sinister unfortunately just clips/pics from little known sites and that kind of stuff) also tend to record shows quite often so feel feel I can make a good contribution to the site. I'm a bit new to the forum scene(but long time fum of several channels/babes) and have only just realised it's not as simple as just copy/paste(ing) a file. In the meantime please private msg me if you have a thing for a particular girl and I'll see what i can come up with. Just to be clear I don't have any dodgy or personal pics of anyone but over time i've amassed a large collection of babepics and would enjoy sharing RE: Help Needed - mitchell - 20-05-2011 16:23 I've had my laptop for about 2 years or so & it came with Microsoft Office 2007 already installed but I've only tried to use it once & got asked for my product key which I didn't know so I left it & today I noticed the number/letters on the bottom of the laptop so I tried it again & put the product key in but got told in the dreaded red letters it was wrong so I went through to the Microsoft site & clicked to get a replacement but kept getting sent back & forth between 2 pages & now I'm confused Anyone......... I had a sony vaio laptop but it died I took the 2 RAM cards out of the back, I have an old HP laptop they seem to be the same size. Another question and this is true (don't laugh) but I follow simon pegg on twitter and a few weeks back apparently his account got hacked and someone posted a Paul screensaver so naturally I downloaded it not knowing it was a virus and it erased everything of my vaio, it wouldn't even turn let me turn my laptop on, if I am able to put these RAM cards in my old laptop will that virus affect this It ? There are a few different types of ram and you have to use the correct one for the laptop. There is also a speed spec for the ram as well. A faster ram will probably work in place of slower one, but not the other way around. No virus would be stored on the ram after its power has been switched off. Go to http://www.crucial.com and do a scan to find out the type of memory you have. As Watcher says, your RAM should be fine for viruses once the power is turned off. It's your hard disk and bios you need to worry about. Can you elaborate on 'it wouldn't even turn let me turn my laptop on', does it power up?
