No more needs to be said RE: The Best Sporting Moments You Have Witnessed - lancealot790 - 24-03-2011 23:42 I was privileged to witness one of the greatest test innings of all time, Sir Ian Bothams magnificent 149 not out against Australia at Headingley in 1981. One man almost single handedly winning a test match and turning the entire series round. England had followed on 200 plus runs behind and the england management were so convinced they were going to lose they had already booked out of the hotel. Add to that his first innings 50 and six wicket haul and you have the making of a legend. He broke the WORLD RECORD in 7 out of the 8 Finals of these events. He is probably the greatest Olympian of all time (he also won 6 gold and 2 bronze at the 2004 Athens Olympics). RE: The Best Sporting Moments You Have Witnessed - Snooks - 25-03-2011 00:57 The 1985 World snooker final between Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor that was decided on the final black in the 35th and last frame. As a lifelong Davis fan that result brings back unhappy memories but for sheer drama and tension I have not witnessed many sporting moments that match it. Taylor produced an epic fightback after a horrendous first session of the final and ultimately deserved his victory on the strength of that.
