england won 16-12 in a very ugly and physical game and briefly looked like going out and only took the lead with a try in the last 2 minutes from chris ashton.
england will have to play better against france next week in the quarter finals

Yet again England showed weakness at the breakdown - not enough men committed to the ruck or maul, ball too slow, no room to release the backs. Ben Youngs didn't help by taking two steps every time he passed either. Fortunatley they improved in the second half and gradually got themselves in control of the game. Again when England's backs were actually given decent ball they looked dangerous (Tuilangi turned the game after half time) - we must allow them to run next week. Happily the French look in total disarray, nice one Tonga.
Scotland played it absolutely right and are unfortunate to go home, presuming Georgia don't pull off a miracle. Andy Robinson's doing a fine job with them and with just a touch more natural talent behind the scrum they can be a force in Europe.

You just know that good France will turn up in the Quarter-Final against England. It's nailed on.
Saying that Lievremont is a dick who makes Domenech look sane so England by 40 points then.

South Africa 2010 anyone? Has French Rugby followed the antics of the soccer boys? I was surprised French took the decision to have a scrum rather than a drop goal. I think Scotland played way better and made England look ordinary at times. We hasve to take al ong hard look at ourselves and start cutting out the basic errors.

The Scottish pack was dominent, lineouts, scrums and back row.
England on paper were far stronger in the backs, but they were denied service and only managed to get away once... But once was just enough

Very impressive performances from the Celts this morning. I hope for Ireland's sake that Rory Best is ok - he's been the outstanding hooker in the tournament so far (with the possible exception of Glenda at the Mucky Maori Massage Parlour). Their QF could be a cracker next week.
England will beat the French but on current form I don't see them getting past either Wales or Ireland.

mine are:
Wales V Ire = Ireland by 10-15 pts gap
Eng V Fra + Eng by 12-15 pts gap
S/A V Aus = S/Afr by 20-25 pts gap
NZ V Arg = Nz by 30+ pts
