Despite their good start England have again failed to deliver the knockout blow, but came back at the end with two quick wickets.

The team looks better balanced with three pace bowlers in the team. I never understood why England needed 3 spinners in the last test.. they are hardly overworked.. it's just 2 strides and toss a ball up.

Tony Gregg came out with a priceless fact, Sri Lanka scored the 2 millionth run in test history. Which anarak worked that out.

Sri Lanka 275 all out. They managed only 37 runs from 21.1 overs for the loss of their last 4 wickets this morning, with Swann finishing with 4/75. There were 3 wickets for Anderson, 2 for Bresnan and 1 for Finn. England have 4 overs to bat before lunch. Prior is still down to bat at 6 in the order with Patel at 7.

You can argue with the decision to bat Prior above Patel,as he has played around 50 Tests averaging 40+ against a man who is playing in his 2nd Test.Saying that I rate Patels batting, but Monty should have played in his place as I'd back him to take more wickets than Patel in a game we must win.Another case of a bowler getting dropped for the failure of the batsmen.

It hasn't happened yet. Cook fell just 6 runs short of his century this morning but Pietersen has made it all the way to 3 figures. Well done to him and to Cook for his 94. England are now 341/3 which is a lead of 66 with Pietersen currently 100 not out and Bell on 17 not out. Trott was the other man out today for 64.

England have a 1st Innings lead of 185.The last 5 wickets went cheaply,it would have been better to bat through most of the 1st seasion & add another 7
or 8
runs as it will be much harder scoring in the last innings even if $ri Lanka take a small lead.Patels runs will be pointless he has to take wickets.
