RE: Wii U - Larny Boy - 22-11-2012 03:46

This is around £100 over priced. It offers very little over the PS3 and 360 in terms of graphics and the tablet gameplay aspect is a transparent gimmick. I can see this being a massive flop for nintendo.

RE: Wii U - *Kal-El* - 22-11-2012 10:04

Actually its not over priced take the basic model at one point it was only £230 pounds and the deluxe pack was under £300, people forget how much the PS3 and 360 were when they first came the PS3 was £500 at one point and hard drive you were given was anything between 20GB - 80GB and you can pick up a 500GB for less then 300 pounds. All gaming companies don't make from the consoles there actually selling them at a loss and make most of there off the software its only since the last couple years that Microsoft and Sony are actually starting to make profit from there consoles, plus you have to bare in mind with how the economic market is around the world most companies are having to sell there goodies for a lot more and there selling as they were years ago. As to say its a gimmick its not even been out long enough for to be judged whether it is not as under powered as the Wii was wasn't it one the fastest selling consoles?, what about the 360 kinect or the Playstation Move are these gimmicks as well.
It makes me laugh when complain about companies making sequel after sequel and doing nothing new and someone tries something different people slag it off before its been given a chance. Your not gonna see the full use of what it can do till they start to make the second generation wave of games its been like that since the days of SNES and the Megadrive. I myself have all of the console except the 360 which i still wanna get at some point and with the Wii U on pre order.
Nobody actually knows how powerful and what processors its using or how it actually works so amazed how you would know.
The price of if i think is a fair one bearing in mind tax has gone and with VAT at 20 percent, you have the basic pack and deluxe pack with the deluxe pack being at 50 pounds more. With the Deluxe pack you 4 times the amount of hard drive space which can be upgraded with SD cards, external hard drives which are fairly cheap, the ZombiU pack comes with ZombiU. gamepad stand, charging stand, wii U stand, a sensor Bar, Wii U pro controller pad, HDMi cable, Nintendo Network Premium which you get for two years giving you get free games and heavy discounts on downloading games which also gives you points which you could use get a free game on top of all that so you could even end up getting Nintendoland for nothing all this at one point for £299 baring in mind the normal control pad cost over 40 quid, the game another 40+ pounds, the HDMI which is free and Microsoft and Sony don't bundle that with console i think now Microsoft do and all those accessories cost money oxygen free or gold plated HMDI can be anything from 5 to 20 pounds plus and you don't even get all that with basic model and all your paying is a extra fifty pounds for the deluxe pack, the basic one just comes with no game, the Wii U gamepad, HDMI, Wii U AC Adaptor, Gamepad AC Adaptor and 8GB hard drive and thats 50 pounds less, thats why i went for the deluxe package bloody good price in my book and hardly a flop its sold out in most places.

You don't have a 360, wow eek

I know a game professional who has worked in games for 30 years and literally has ALL the consoles or played on them all, they say it's the best consel ever with the best games and the best exclusive games.

And that's from a professional veiw not a fangeek viewpoint.

i heard its the same as the PS3 and 360 version only thing thats different is the Wii U version comes with all the DLC content and you use the Wii control pad move around, as a map and to manage your weapons.

RE: Wii U - Larny Boy - 26-11-2012 04:22

I stand by what I said. People see Nintendo now as a cheap kids console producer, if they want hard core gaming then they choose 360 and PS3. Most people are gonna balk at the Wii U price especially in this day and age (and lets be honest no one is gonna buy the inferior basic model)

Yes the last gen consoles were expensive on launch, but sold well to the fore mentioned hard core gamers. These days both those consoles are cheap as chips and the Wii U offers virtually nothing over them except a gimmicky low res tablet controller (Xbox smart Glass is a much better prospect) Most of the Wii U games are also already available elsewhere and the again fore mention HC gamers will have already brought them. Can you see COD gamers waiting for months for the Wii U version and not knowing what the online play will be like? Nope I cant either.

Maybe Nintendo will do what it did with the N64 and drop the price by £100 after just a month. Finally in my opinion the last must have Nintendo console was the SNES, I've still got mine Tongue

RE: Wii U - *Kal-El* - 26-11-2012 15:59

Sorry but i don't agree so Nintendo a cheap console maker yet the last must Nintendo console was SNES lol, they've been like since day one so whats changed. I've already explained that the price of consoles will be a lot higher and its highly unlikely that the price of that or any console is gonna drop but that huge amount. All game companies sell there consoles at loss and make there money off the software and and only break even after few years of the consoles release this i know for a fact as i've known a couple developers and my uncle used to work for Microsoft. As for the basic model your right most people will go for the deluxe version as what i did but yet thats been going on for years as for back as the NES when you had a basic model and the deluxe version which came with ROB the robot, a couple games and the zapper. You get the same thing these days with the 360 where you get the basic model i.e the acarde pack and that only comes with 4GB of memory yet you can get a Elite or even a 360 with 250GB hard drive most my friends never bothered with a basic 360 bundle, even now you can buy a 12GB PS3 and one as big as 500GB now which one would go for considering some PS3 take up to 5GB+ install space its all about choice.
Yeah its true that if a game is on another machine for example Mass Effect 3 or Batman Arkham City, i already have that on the PS3 and am very unlikely to buy that again, yet i never bought Black Ops 2 or Fifa 13 so i would mostly to get it on that, secondly its proven now that nintendo can cater for the hardcore gamer, which by the way Black Ops 2 actually looks better on the Wii U. All next generation consoles are not gonna be dirt cheap i've alreadly explained that with economic crisis and increases in taxes thats going around the world electrical goods are gonna be more dear thats why hardly any one is buy goods these days thats a simply fact of life.
The Xbox Smart glass is a impressive piece of kit but how many hardcore 360 gamers are gonna go out there way to buy that to use it for gaming?, its the same thing with the kinect a excellent device but how many people use that for hardcore gaming aside for the voice control most people i know use it for games like Dance Central etc etc how many hardcore gamers playing Call of Duty, Battlefield or Halo are really gonna be using it for hardcore experience. You can have a view on something but you knock something if its not been given a chance or you've actually tried it. Many years ago when it was only Nintendo, Sega and Sony would have laughed at microsoft for taking on these giants as they had no experience and looks whats happened Microsoft are pretty much on top when it comes to gaming. For what your paying for the deluxe Wii U it is worth it considering the accessories you get if bought on there own are is anything from £100 - £200 extras, how much do you think the next generation of Sony and Microsoft consoles are gonna cost the days of cheap consoles are long gone.
Instead of people complaining who's better or who's worse people should just enjoy what ever console they happen to own, i still have my NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS1, PS2, PS3,PSP, Wii, DS Lite, and soon a Wii U and one day a 360 and i love them all over the years i used them. b

RE: Wii U - *Kal-El* - 26-11-2012 20:17

Plus bare in mind now that there rumours of two version's of the Xbox 720 the first version will be more affordable will be more for the casual market and second version will run windows 8 operating system but won't be able to play the latest titles but will be able to download games from Xbox live, so which one do you think will pay for sound familiar.

RE: Wii U - Larny Boy - 26-11-2012 20:21

I have all the old consoles too, gathering dust in the loft lol. The SNES was amazing in its day. The N64 was a piece of overpriced junk, the gamecube was a total failure and the Wii really was just a one trick gimmick. Yes it sold like hot cakes but it was nothing but a kids machine regardless of any adult based titles they tried to release, same will go for the Wii U.

So again I stand by my point. I guess if the Wii U had the hardware to blow the current gen away then it might just be worth it, but it doesn't have the power. If the PS3 and 360 didn't exist then the Wii U would be the most awesome console ever created, but thats not the case. Its a machine invented to compete with the current gen, not outshine them, and seeing as the current gen is around 6-7 years old now we deserve something a lot more impressive for £300.
