All true, but:

He was also a terrorist in the vein of the IRA, whatever the justification of his actions, he was once a terrorist and therefore can never be considered 'the greatest human that ever lived'.

the term 'one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter' could be used but any human being with a shred of decency and humanity would see him as the latter, a freedom fighter. if you see him as the former then i feel that you have deep-seated issues that i nor anyone else would be able to change on a public forum. shame. Sad

This is exactly the language the IRA use.

It's a shame you can't accept the whole picture of a man rather than cherry pic what you want and ignore the negative; he was also a strong supporter of Mugabee. All I am doing is point out historic FACT, he was involved in bombing campaigns, and as I was careful to put, it doesn't matter what the justification for them they are acts of terrorism - the intention is to kill people indiscriminately to make a political point, the point may be worthy, the the action NEVER is.

I have never once argued against any accolade on here, except him being the greatest human to ever like, which quite frankly, is a nonsense statement.

When the biggest movement against apartheid was happening he was in prison, there were many other people who was fighting against it both inside his country and out, not just him alone; he was no Ghandi.

He was, however, a great man and I have never once argued against this, just not has perfect has people on here are claiming.

It's a sad reflection on you that you think there is only one viewpoint, the ones that agree with you.

And I haven't even mentioned Winnie eek

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

Clearly if you're an extreme right wing racist who regards black South Africans as subhuman, then it's understandable why you regard Nelson Mandela as a terrorist.

If on the other hand you regard the apartheid policy - in which people were treated as inferior beings simply based on the colour of their skin - as fundamentally wrong, then Mandela was surely a freedom fighter in supporting armed insurrection against the violence, random arrests, arbitrary killing policy etc used by the apartheid regime to keep their system in place.
