RE: Winter Olympics - Sochi 2014 - mickster - 10-02-2014 00:41 What was it 24 medals (of any colour) since 1924 ? Hardly a success story for the UK media to promote .It's all political sour grapes ,because there's 20+ nations who have the natural facilities (i.e. Snow & Ice) and have participated in most of the disciplines well before Winter Olympics were ever thought of . The odd sport that takes place indoors on artificial surfaces that can be reproduced here in the UK is mostly the UK's only chance of success . Therefore no real success stories for the media to report on , they look for other themes to distract from this . So we end up with "horror stories" about accommadation and security .It gives them thesense of superiority ,"it would never happen here" . Anything over 3 medals should be seen as great return for the UK . RE: Winter Olympics - Sochi 2014 - malicious fan - 10-02-2014 12:42 not a great start for eve muirhead . hope she does really well at this olympics after her debut olympics but she was young 4 years ago and she bounced back in great style since then. just watched the match against sweden and sumtimes i feel she has a mental block, suppose i will get hassle for saying that especially with everything she has won over the last few years. just hope she and the girls can bounce back rite away and get a run of wins on the board and make the semi's ! RE: Winter Olympics - Sochi 2014 - Phonebook - 10-02-2014 17:25 Did anyone see the Russian ice skater nearly get her tits out? RE: Winter Olympics - Sochi 2014 - mikedafc - 10-02-2014 17:49 was tough start for Eve & her team against Sweden who are 2 time defending champions. In recent times, her team has beaten this team in World Final & lost in European Final to them. Hopefully her team will like the Swedes did in that Euro champs, get their revenge in the final (10-02-2014 12:42 )malicious fan Wrote: not a great start for eve muirhead . hope she does really well at this olympics after her debut olympics but she was young 4 years ago and she bounced back in great style since then. just watched the match against sweden and sumtimes i feel she has a mental block, suppose i will get hassle for saying that especially with everything she has won over the last few years. just hope she and the girls can bounce back rite away and get a run of wins on the board and make the semi's ! Hopefully her team will like the Swedes did in that Euro champs, get their revenge in the finalyeah course its a tough start and they hav a match with usa next and then i think canada so its not gona get easier but i hope they can do it! also im pretty sure its not the same swedish skip as of the last olympics in fact not the same team at all i dont think. i stand by what i said i just think sumtimes when i watch eve i think she makes sum strange decisions unless they were the right shots but they went wrong like she did today! i know its only her 2nd olympics but i really hope she hasnt got an olympic jinx, suppose its too early to say yet or not i just hope hope she isnt going to be in the colin jackson mould of winning everything u can apart from an olympic title! i really do hope she can get that bit of luck to go with the talent she already has and she gets gold, my heart says yes but my head says no, but hope my head is wrong! RE: Winter Olympics - Sochi 2014 - mikedafc - 10-02-2014 21:47 It is the same Swedish skip that Eve's team beat in World Final in 2013 and that they lost to in 2013 Euro Champs. The good thing is GB Sport has allowed Eve to keep her team intact this time rather than do what they did last two times when they broke up the team and put the supposed best 4 players together RE: Winter Olympics - Sochi 2014 - Snooks - 10-02-2014 21:52 Eve Muirhead and her team will hopefully settle down now they have got used to the ice conditions in the arena. Sweden was always going to be a tough task first up. All is by no means lost. There really are some horrible whiney arseholes in this country. RE: Winter Olympics - Sochi 2014 - mickster - 11-02-2014 02:49 Wonder how many pro calls they would have had (if people were that way inclined ) to say they knew it was basically Jenny's mates on the mic's ? Who else could the BBC have used ,who had the knowledge of this relative new event . Personally I think it says a lot about the moaners looking like killjoys . Still , they probably complained about Denise Lewis and Steve Cram etc.going apeshit when Mo Farrar won his race in the London Olympics . Get a life . It's like people coming on here moaning about trivial points (lol). |
