Reaching a bit there, aren't you? Having to go back 70/80 years to reference problems they had. Especially as it isn't what I mentioned. IE: getting actual value for their money. Incredibly affordable housing.

Maybe next time you can go even further back and mention all the witch burnings and plagues they had to endure.
affordable housing?? what are you on about? no working man could get a mortgage then? no such thing as credit cards... 70/80 years ? no 40/50 years..when do you think food rationing ended? 1945? council houses didnt exist for many and outside bogs were still common in the sixties...

Fella, do you know what the average price for a house in Britain was 50 years ago? LESS than £5,000.

Speaking for family members of mine my grandparents bought their 5-bedroom house in a VERY well to do area in Yorkshire in 1956 for just £2,900.

They might not have has credit cards but mortgages weren't remotely a problem. Especially as money went further then.
