I do believe his remark was a joke - a parody of the previous accusations made about you by the Chatback staff. Ironically, between your responses to this thread and the thread about your kiss and tell you are actually coming off a tad unhinged here, Summer. Calm down. RE: chat back as been closed down - admiral decker - 10-05-2009 11:16 Yes the remark was a joke, but even if Summer didn't realsie it was a joke I don't think she was taking it too seriously. Regardless of whether this is a hoax or not, anyone remember back to when BabeStar was stamped on, partly for having the wrong type of licence ? What is all this garbage about types of licence anyway ? Where does the Broadcasting Act say anything about types of licence ? Or even OfCom's own Broadcasting Code ? RE: chat back as been closed down - BarrieBF - 11-05-2009 07:33 I haven't heard of types of licence either. I thought there was a licence to broadcast and that was it. ChatBack: Tellyshopping licence http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/tvlicensing/cs/611.htm Elite TV: General entertainment licence http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/tvlicensing/cs/1403.htm Broadcast Licenses explained: An Editorial service aka General Entertainment licence: The most expensive licence. OFCOM take a percentage of profits every April, just like a "kind of tax." Licensed to show Normal programming. Licence holders include Sky One, ITV, Cellcast, Elite TV. A Tellyshopping service licence: A much cheaper "fixed fee" payment is made every year. Licenced to show purely advertising products or services. Licence holders include QVC, Bid Tv, ChatBack. A Self-Promontional service licence. Licence holders include Audi Tv. A Religious Service licence. Religious programming. Licence holders include Life Tv, God TV. One a service is licensed, fees are charged annually in April. The annual fee is based on a percentge of profit for ALL channels, except tellyshopping licence holders who pay a smaller fixed annual fee. Excellent post. ... but Im not going to say anything about Chatback any more.. I will leave that to the usual crew who moan their heads off but don't like others moaning. RE: chat back as been closed down - Digital Dave - 11-05-2009 18:55 Thanks for the above Vostok, very useful. I had a quick scan of the babe and porn channel licences on the Ofcom site and there's another grade of licence as well - adult editorial. This seems to be used primarily by the encrypted porn channels such as Adult, Amateur Babes, Blue Tube, Climax etc, although a small number of FTA babe channels also have this licence, such as Essex Babes and Live XXX Babes. I think this is because their licences were granted for an encrypted service which has since gone FTA, perhaps with a new service name. Anyway, my quick scan reveals that Chatback is (I think) the only babe channel to have a teleshopping licence, which must account for the confusion and wild swings between showing nothing at all and seeing what Juliet had for breakfast! Obviously cost is an issue, which is why they've opted not to get a more expensive general entertainment licence. I note however that David Wainright's other licences, Friendly TV (907) and Bedroom TV (962), both have general entertainment licences. I guess he makes money renting them out to other babe channel broadcasters. Both are now rented out to Bang Babes. So where does this leave Chatback? And does having a teleshopping licence mean that they come under a different set of guidelines to the general entertainment channels? Edit: I just checked Hotel Voyeur's licence (Over 18 TV) and they have something which looks unique - an adult chat/teleshopping licence! Perhaps that's an option for Chatback. RE: chat back as been closed down - HEX!T - 11-05-2009 22:13 no m8 they got there licences last year when ofcom were trying to force all the phone chat services to be made teleshoping. there was a period of about 6 months where they managed to get away with it but were overturned in the courts. so when the channels renew the licence they will be geting adult entertainment 1s like elite tv's |
