Sad to see, four grand slams by the age of 23, she could very well be the next legend of the game. Let's hope there can be a resolution to this soon

The authorities must be a bunch of idiots. If they feel the meedja is of more importance than the players, then they might as well all pack up and go home.

that is sad to see, but in all honesty. I think there has to be far more open dialogue between players and the tour. It has been a tough time for players and some sports competitiors throughout this and maybe the way her statement came out originally probably did preempt a few things and does show that maybe more discussion is needed.

I would not be surprised if competitors in other sports take the same sort of stance. And I'm sure many fans will have sympathy for her.

In other news, Cameron Norrie won, though Jo Konta and Heather Watson lost.

The media has to take a look at itself also!! Fat chance many would say! It has been allowed to weild far too much power and influence - not only in sport' throughout society as a whole. If you don't follow the medias agenda, you are automatically beyond the pale. A brief discussion between J Inverdale and sam smith showed that in stark terms, with the medias responsibility ignored, in favour of pinning responsibility on players and the tour management.

What is gleaned in these press conferences anyway?? Anything of note or consequence?? I don't think so!! They exist solely to massage a journos ego if they manage to drop in what they - and only they - see as a cutting question, or some inane point which they think extracts a 'funny' or quirky response from the player under the microscope. They are essentially for the 'groupie' brigade who follow pseudo celebs/heroes, and probably consider 'love island' as quality tv

Andreescu, Ostapenko and Muguruza were all also round 1 losers.

Nadal and Djokovic won their openers.

Venus Williams didn't, though.

Cameron Norrie has won through to the 3rd round for the 1st time evah.

Where he'll probably play some bloke called Nadal.
