RE: The Book of Boba Fett - *Kal-El* - 26-01-2022 09:05 Ep 5 Chapter 5 “Return of The Mandalorian” Season 1 One of the best Ep’s of the season so far and pretty much doesn’t feature the main cast. It’s the return of a familiar face for this Ep. Watch out for the Star Wars prequel and The New Hope references, for me this Ep a 10/10 if I was rating it. RE: The Book of Boba Fett - Rammyrascal - 26-01-2022 19:33 ^^ I'm giving it the same rating too. Fantastic episode with Easter eggs for the prequel trilogy & A New Hope RE: The Book of Boba Fett - southsidestu - 27-01-2022 19:48 I guess I'm going to be Captain Buzzkill here but I haven't been impressed with the show so far. I have said before when talking about Star Wars that as a kid I watched Star Trek and never really got into original trilogy until i was in my early 20s and so I don't have the same child like wonder that other fans have. Side note that scene in the 09 Star Trek reboot when they first see the Enterprise from the shuttle at the space dock still give me chills & when I watch it on Youtube I replay it at least another 2 times. I feel like BOBF has been too much of a nostalgia trip & has lacked any originality: Tatooine again, Jabba's palace again, Tusken Raiders again, Jawas again, Sarlacc pit again, The Hutt again, Rancor again, Wookies again. The 2nd episode where Fett was teaching the Tusken's in how to defeat the train felt to me like another Seven Samurai episode which was seen recently in the first season of The Mandalorian & used previously in The Clone Wars in an episode that was dedicated to Kurosawa where Obi Wan & Anakin along with some bounty hunters teach farmers to defend themselves against Pirates. The climatic scene in that episode on top of the train whilst entertaining felt like they had just recycled the scene from the second season of The Mandalorian with Mayfeld driving & Mando on the roof fighting the Pirates. I haven't been that fond of the flashback scenes, once in the first episode was fine but being used continuously has in my opinion really slowed the pace of the present day story. Next week is the penultimate episode and I feel that the story has barely moved. After getting attacked in the street in the pilot because of the flashbacks it took an episode for it to possibly be the mayor only for it to be Ronnie & Regina Hutt, another episode & a half for it not be them and back to the Mayor & another for it to be the Pyke Syndicate all of which could of been done in a single episode. Fennec Shand has been reduced to a bit part character who spends most of her time brooding in the corner only for her to say something now and again and for Fett to do the opposite, a sort of Mr Worf to Fett's Picard. The episode with The Mandalorian was really good but what was it doing in the middle of a series around Boba Fett especially this late on again slowing down the main story arc. This episode would of been much better served as the premiere of season 3 of The Mandalorian. Whilst we all love the character, bringing him into this season did feel like my earlier point about nostalgia: The Mandalorian again, Peli Motto again, The child again, plus a scene of them rebuilding the Naboo fighter that went on far longer than needed which dished out more nostalgia first for the fighter itself and then with Mando's test flight that flew it round landscapes reminiscent of Anakin's pod race and finish with a couple of X Wings again. Every episode so far has been written by Favreau, he seems to be suffering from Chris Chibnall syndrome & really needs to let other people in. The Clone Wars which in my opinion is one of the best things on offer in The Star Wars franchise (along with Revenge of The Sith, The Mandalorian & Fallen Order) had a whole team of writers, get some of these guys on board, hell the guys from The Expanse are looking for a job right now give them a call. In summary I feel like this show is a pretty good analogy for what has become of the story of the resurrection. It was supposed to be about some guy who came back from the dead but it's ended up being all about Easter Eggs RE: The Book of Boba Fett - Goodfella3041 - 29-01-2022 09:21 (27-01-2022 19:48 )southsidestu Wrote: I guess I'm going to be Captain Buzzkill... I guess that makes me Lieutenant Buzzkill, based on the last episode. I thought it was a big step backwards. Too much slow and corny fantasy-world exposition in the first half. Too much fan service in the second. RE: The Book of Boba Fett - *Kal-El* - 29-01-2022 19:53 “Big Empire” https://youtu.be/KH7gBi5xW7A RE: The Book of Boba Fett - *Kal-El* - 02-02-2022 09:46 Ep 6 Chapter 6 “From The Desert Comes A Stranger” Season 1 Now this might be my fav Ep, a few returning faces and one in particular my fav character all I can say is they stepped up the CGI. RE: The Book of Boba Fett - Rammyrascal - 02-02-2022 14:36 Ep6 "From The Desert A Stranger Comes" My fav episode so far. I was going WTF!!! & HOLY S**T throughout as well as laughing at a certain character's antics RE: The Book of Boba Fett - KerrAvon - 02-02-2022 15:25 Yeah maybe a rumoured CGI hiring paid off but whoever or whatever it was it was almost scarely improved Was it nostalgic and fanwanking? Yes. Did I enjoy it? You're damn right . Just call and do a series called Star Wars, that includes Boba. Mando and everybody else and be done lol RE: The Book of Boba Fett - Goodfella3041 - 05-02-2022 09:29 I dunno… I like this show when it’s aping Lawrence of Arabia, The Godfather, and A Fistful of Dollars. But it’s less good when it’s aping the Karate Kid and Herbie: Fully Loaded. RE: The Book of Boba Fett - Sm© - 05-02-2022 11:04 I haven't watched any of it, but the vibe i'm getting from people that have is it's better when the titular character doesn't feature much in the episodes |
