The wicket of Curran just before the break has put this match firmly in Sri Lanka's control. The 2nd new ball was taken & Embuldeniya used it to good effect as Curran edged the ball to slip to give him his 5th wicket. Buttler played well for his half-century & was dismissed as he edged the ball onto his foot with the catch taken. Root's scoring rate dropped during the session, & it will be interesting to see if he looks to increase his tempo again, with not much more batting to come after Bess.

Root becomes England's fifth highest run scorer on the all - time England scoring list overaking the likes of David Gower and Kevin Pietersen and Alistair Cook remarked there is no reason if Root keeps himxself fit and healthy he could overtaker his total in a few years
