RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Boomerangutangangbang - 08-12-2021 16:32 England continue to shoot themselves in the foot, with selections. Surely the 1st Test sets the tone for the series. It is no guarantee that England will win the Day/Night pink-ball Test at Adelaide, but it does offer them their best chance, Anderson's only 5 for in an overseas Ashes came in a Day/Night Test. But we couldn't afford to save Broad as well for next week. Different conditions & ball, But Broad had Warner in his pocket, & is our best bowler to left handers. Australia open with 2 lefties, remove them early & bowl at Labuschagne & Smith while the ball is still new. I think that William isn't far off, but even if just Broad played, I think he would have had the confidence to bowl first. This was a perfect storm, if you pardon the pun. Australia lose the toss & get to unleash a class pace-attack on a green pitch under a cloudy sky, & then the rain arrives a precisely the right time to prevent England from bowling in similar conditions. Leaving out Broad is a bigger mistake than the inclusion of Leach, this match doesn't look like going the distance, so we may never know what impact a spinner will have in the 4th innings. However, I don't buy the argument that you don't need 5 pace bowlers, Stokes doesn't need to be over-bowled. RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Snooks - 09-12-2021 00:17 Soon be time for the Smith and Labuschagne show ![]() RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Whynot - 09-12-2021 01:23 I find it highly annoying how Smith and Labuschagne leave the ball! They’ve made leaving it more annoying than when they hit it! And Warner was born a cunt, plays cricket like a cunt, cheated like one and will die one! RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Snooks - 09-12-2021 01:38 Warner bowled by Stokes but it's a no ball ![]() RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Boomerangutangangbang - 09-12-2021 11:31 ^^ Not sure why but they didn't have the no-ball technology. Stokes over-stepped on numerous occasions. RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Whynot - 10-12-2021 00:59 1) Warner. Burns 2) Harris. Hameed 3)Labuschagne. Malan 4) Smith. Root 5)Head. stokes 6) Green. Pope 7) Carey. Buttler 8) Cummins. Woakes 9) Starc. Robinson 10) Lyon. Leach 11) Hazelwood. Wood How many on the English team would get into the Aussie team? Root, Stokes…. Buttler? His test record is poor … none of the bowlers . RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Snooks - 10-12-2021 01:33 I will be pleasantly surprised if this test match does not finish on day 3. Half expecting England to be skittled again ![]() RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Snooks - 10-12-2021 09:49 ![]() ![]() ![]() 220/2. Probably too little too late but a good effort nonetheless. RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Boomerangutangangbang - 10-12-2021 11:22 Root has passed 1500 runs in a calendar year, overtaking the record held by Vaughan, only the 3rd England batsman, & the 8th in World cricket. Helped by the volume of cricket that England play, (miles more than any other nation, only India come close, & it's becoming an issue) but given the bubbe-life & the fact that he's almost single-handedly carrying the team batting, it's all the more remarkable. RE: England 2021-22 Ashes Tour - Boomerangutangangbang - 10-12-2021 11:43 Whynot makes a sound observation, above, Australia's 4 main bowlers would all get into a combined X!. However, Woakes, Robinson & Wood , bowled without much luck on day 2, but were forced into coming back into the attack late in the day as Leach & Stokes couldn't offer any control. Robinson with his height should be effective, throughout the series, my fear would be that he will be the first name on the teamsheet & could get over-bowled, he can't afford to bowl at a lower pace in his later spells, & fitness will be vital. Wood got some late reward with wickets today. his average pace on day 2 was 92mph, in his 20 overs, Warner looked troubled by him. Woakes produced many false-shots without much reward. Put these 3 & add Broad, have the bottle to bowl first & Australia would've been kept below 300 & England would still be in the game. |
