It's when a room decides to limit the audience to tippers. A tip level is set and everyone who tips that amount is considered to have bought a ticket and is sent a password for the show. When the show starts at the set time only those who have bought tickets can view the show.

It's worth pointing out that these ticket shows aren't necessarily expensive. I've seen one run for only 20 tokens.
