The England players are on a win bonus of £10,000 per man for winning the match plus £30,000 per man if they can win the series. Nobody will pay them anything for achieving the highest ever score.
The ECB also receive a prize payout depending on where England finish in the ICC Test Championship, so they wouldn't be too pleased if the England players were playing matches without trying to win.

I had to laugh with my kiwi work colleague this morning when England declared we were thinking of root and brook didn't get out they may have got to 1000 and that would have been sum achievement especially away from home

Going off the ICC world ranking they are currently in 8th position.

All wins are the same in the Test Championship. You don't get more credit for beating Australia than you get for beating Pakistan. A win is a win.
