RE: UFC - mitchell - 28-09-2010 01:03

I like how all the papers are all of a sudden reporting on an mma... Sorry cage fighting now!!!. If they don't know about the sport then don't talk about it!!! they're only talkin about it from a celeb point of view. "Oh Alex Reid got beat to a pulp", give the man some respect he's a kickboxer who entered the mma octagon albeit into a stand up fight. It fucks me off when they call it cage fighting & only talk about it cause of madam silly bollocks.

grounnpoud you said you've not seen the fight, here it is, parts 2 & 3 are on the right, or it's on Bravo on Friday at 21:00.

Hows things lads?Big welcome to Regenerated on the UFC thread good to have on here lad! and also welcome to Hitmeuptop! My sparring partner from the dark side of the northwest Wink Lets keep it clean in here now lol
Nice analysis again Mitchell Smile
Was disapointed at sat nights show..Gotta say.I hate being a miserable sod but anyone who watched on saturday surely must've felt the same?
Sherk vs Dunham by far the fight of the night!Pity bout the result..I Like Dunham.Plenty of time for him though.
As for Serra,Nogueira,Cro Cop and Mir!All of them could hang the gloves up now and i wouldn't miss them!
Thought all three of the main fights were rotten! The only guy to come out with some credit was Bader.
The top 3 fights were just nothing to get excited about from the moment they were struck if u ask me and defo 1 of the poorest cards i've seen.
The batton is now passed on to the UK..Lets hope Hathaway,Hardy and Bisping can wash away the taste of 119 from our mouths!Rolleyes

Thanks for the vid Mitchell. Big respect to Alex Reid for that effort! He shook Watson up a bit in there and gave him a good scrap for the first couple rounds. I think he's a good geezer Reid.Just his girl thats a rocket lol The journos always write bullshit m8.Can imagine who was doing the piece on the fight...Some gossip columnist or something probably. As they say..Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story...

RE: UFC - cainan - 28-09-2010 02:04

Alex Reid used all his heart in that fight and almost had Watson which is why i wouldnt have been suprised if he'd had won. Watson is known to let you down...

Still, i like Alex, hes fun and hilarious. I just hate the bitch thats riding his coat tails because nobody likes her.

RE: UFC - mitchell - 28-09-2010 15:26

Having seen all of Cro cop's fights in the UFC i've come to think it's the wrong organization for him & i can see him goin back to Japan to finish his fighting career in Pride replacment DREAM.
I don't think he can cope with the octagon he's more comfortable in a kickboxing ring where he can't be held against the cage. Pride was legendary for the stand up fights.
18 of his 26 Pride/DREAM fights were won by KO/TKO which tells you he doesn't like fighting in a closed space, by this i mean when he's put up against the cage he struggles to gain any advantage, yes he's improved his take down defence as we saw against Mir but he still doesn't have the full confidence he had in the kickboxing ring.
If i remember rightly he had some knee problems during his time in the UFC which he said impacted on his fights but before the Patt Barry fight he said he was now injury free, but he didn't throw many kicks in that fight or against Mir, i think he's too worried about the take down which is stopping him from being the Cro Cop we know from typing his name in Youtube, the man is one of the true morden day legends of the fight game so i hope people don't tarnish him with oh he was found out in the UFC & couldn't step up to the plate.. Like the sayin goes you can't teach an old dog....

While looking into what i was gonna write in this post i looked at his last none UFC fight, a DREAM co promotion, Dynamite!! 2008 it was a fight against
Hong Man Choi.. No seriously thats his nameBounce. Hong Man ChoiBounce as it turns out is a 7ft 2in 22.8st South Korean kickboxer/wrestler.
Hong Man ChoiBounce Kickboxing W12 L7 KO's7 MMA W2 L3.
The vid for this fight is here, the quality isn't great, so if your not sure who's who well Cro Cop is the one who isn't 7ft 2in tall, the fight isn't great but the ref in typical Japanese tourist style is carrying a rucksack, & yes he does show both fighters a yellow cardHuh what next goal line tech in football.

RE: UFC - 199lives - 28-09-2010 16:19

all credit to reid he was much better than the last fight i saw him in (can't remember who against) he has a brick chin and it kept him in the fight for the second two and a half rounds. Watson got his scheduling all wrong. He went the distance with jesse taylor fighting in Canada two weeks before this fight he can't have been prepared or in peek condition for this fight. the Taylor fight was probably a bigger, more important fight on world scale.
the commentators were useless, surprise, surprise. and trying to big up bobb sapp, he got exposed years ago as a monstrously huge guy who can't fight (cro cop making him cry in the middle of the ring is a bit funny to watch)

Hong man choi was a beast before he had a tumour removed from his brain (reason for his size) after that he lost a lot of muscle and hasn't been the same fighter. He was supposed to be Brock lesnars first mma opponent but couldn't get medical clearance. his Fight against fedor is a good short watch.

Cro cop should of retired after Barry finish on a win he's been pretty dissapointing since joining the ufc
I think the yellow card system they had in pride was quite good for fouls or inactivity, fighters got fined part of there purse if they got one, gave more incentive to be aggressive.

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 28-09-2010 16:28

Yeah Man Choi is a Giant! That kick to the sack fairly chopped him down though lol
Mitchells right Cro Cop just isn't suited the UFC scene!
I might have been a bit hasty in sayin i wouldn't miss him if he never fought again but im a UFC fan and i wanna see guys in the cage who can do the sport justice and COME BACK FROM BEING SMASHED INTO THE CAGE AND KNOCKED TO THE FLOOR AND BEATEN HALF TO DEATH! Warriors! lol
Shane Carwin PLEASE return soon! I miss him.

Talk about before & after, the difference is immense, top respect to Choi for coming back to fight, a tumour aint no joke man.

The UFC should look at a system similar to the yellow card, especially now there's a lot of one-dimensional fighters amongst it's ranks, as i said earlier Mir has many skills but look at the Cro Cop fight???

RE: UFC - gazfc - 30-09-2010 13:32

Finally got round to watching 119, bit disappointed with it. The Mir - Cro cop was shit squared, Really really enjoyed the Sherk - Dunham fight though, now that was top notch.

As I'm only just getting into MMA can ya'll suggest some essential viewing
