RE: Scottish Football - Doddle - 19-05-2013 20:38 Dunfermline - "one of Scotland's big clubs" - REALLY? Anyway, yay for Alloa, and East Fife, I guess. RE: Scottish Football - Doddle - 20-05-2013 20:37 Hearts got let off. Pah. RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 26-05-2013 21:25 Well the seasons conclusion was brought to an end today as Celtic clinched the Scottish Cup after finishing the game up as easy winner's. The final for me failed to match the drama and excitement that both semi's provided. At no point did I get the feeling that Hib's were ever in the game, I would have loved to see them win the Scottish Cup purely from a neutral point of view but Celtic were just far too strong for them and outclassed them today in every department. Final score at Hampden today - Hibernian 0 - Celtic 3 RE: Scottish Football - Fernandez Esperenda - 26-05-2013 21:29 should celtic move into the english leagues to give other teams a chance and make it more interesting for the rest of the other teams.... im sure celtic fans would prefer it also as they would get to play bigger teams every week and make it more exciting to them? RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 26-05-2013 21:42 Talk about Celtic and Rangers joining the English Leagues has been floating around for years but it will never ever happen. Both teams are based in Glasgow and if my memory serves me correct that just so happens to be in Scotland. Also talk has also been floating about too about an Atlantic League or a European League, again I think this is a non starter. Where exactly would that leave the current Champions League and Europa League. With the current financial climate in our leagues up here the future is really about bringing through the youth systems and getting kids's off the XBox's and back to kicking the balls around in the parks again. We need to take a leaf out of the Dutch system and put the idea's into securing a much brighter future for the long term of our game. Scotland hasn't qualified for a major tournament now since 1998 and that to me is tragic RE: Scottish Football - Fernandez Esperenda - 26-05-2013 22:50 Send a few of your youngster to Brasil, they will come back ready for Champions League RE: Scottish Football - Doddle - 26-07-2013 06:41 I see Celtic got the better of Cliftonville. St Johnstone did really well to beat Rosenborg, too Less said about Hibernian, the better RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 28-07-2013 16:21 I have to admit the St Johnstone result over Rosenborg was a major scalp for a provincial club. Not since the glory days of Dundee United and Aberdeen when they both used to be feared throughout the whole of Europe have we seen such a result in scottish football. Both Rangers and Celtic have achieved success but to see one of the smaller clubs doing it on a the big stage was a quick reminder to us all that perhaps we put ourselves down far too much up here. Nobody expected that result including myself as I had written them off from the very moment I seen the draw. Also the big kick off starts again this Friday with Partick Thistle taking on my Dundee United team for what should be a very interesting game I just hope that Jackie Mcnamara gets a warm welcome from the Thistle fans too as he played a massive part in their promotion which I hope he will be given full respect for PS -Wigan Athletic 0 - Dundee United 1 (yesterdays friendly) RE: Scottish Football - SmĀ© - 28-07-2013 17:18 Impressive 4 nil victory for Rangers... I expect I've told that story before, but it remains true. I see East Stirling are already off and running, losing to Formartine Utd 2-0 I liked the way today's Sunday Post had pundits predicting not just the final league tables, but also by how many points Celtic would win |
