Thinking about it when I saw how much profit British Gas/Centrica made it made me wonder just how much of that is in the pockets of the shareholders? And that goes for all businesses. In trying to implement windfall taxes I'm often wondering just how successful it would be because surely it will be met with an appeal in court that ultimately & possibly could end up being a waste of time as those companies will argue any windfall tax imposed, impacts on future infrastructure investment.

Well, from this interview of Thangam Debbonaire Labour MP for Bristol West where she refuses to commit to revoking these North Sea oil and gas licenses if Labour wins the next General Election. Which is amazing because she has a strong challenge from the Greens in her constituency.

The problem with committing to revoke the licences is that would act as a disincentive to investors as they hate the prospect of a change of permission after they have committed funds. Labour really need to assess the position when they are in government to see what they can do.

Focus really needs to be on the lies from this government about the benefits of granting these licences and their frankly unbelievable claims they are consistent with their net zero commitments.

4 Greenpeace protestors have climbed onto Rishi's manison in Yorkshire, and then they draped the house in a black faabric.

Questions are being asked, not about the protest and what they are protesting about, but more about how did they manage to get to the PM's house. And where was his security.

Migrants are being removed from the Bibby vessel as traces of Legionnaires disease have been found in the water supply.

Braverman must be fuming - that’s the 2nd plot to kill migrants that’s been discovered today (the other being the decision to move a migrant with TB to the vessel)

She’s now probably asking if the earlier idea to drown them at sea using the Royal Navy can be tried.

Saying that those not wanting to be dumped on the barge of doom, should ''fuck off back to France'' is a true colour moment from the deputy of the party. Anyone would think the Tories were racist and hateful elites, nice image, considering they try to sell themselves as a party for everyone...of a certain ilk.

Our world that was never perfect, but seemed more open and optimistic not too long ago, it has, since Brexit, Trump, the open rise of the right and so on, become a very negative and hateful place. We are seeing stupid becoming the new normal, I think if things aren't turned around in the next five years or so, like a cultural shift towards tolerance, we will see some proper civilisation collapse shit happening.
America is on the verge already, Russia, China and a few others banding together spells disaster on a different scale, the social media generation are more concerned with recording something on their phone, than actually stopping to help, or would rather cause chaos in order to bring attention to their socials.

Oh what a world we live in Sad

Isolationism is a code for intolerance, xenophobia and a whole series of isms.

I warned years ago of the potentially damaging implications of referendums that threatened to tear relationships, families, communities and the country apart.
At a time when there was and remains a need to stick together we have gone from asking the Scots whether they want to break away from the rest of the UK to asking the UK whether it wants to break away from the European Union to condemning migrants to a barge.
Along with all the isolationist rhetoric and nastiness that goes with it.

We have gone from an economic mess to a pandemic to an even bigger economic mess set against the backdrop of a climate crisis and the war in Ukraine.

The pandemic was characterized by culture of COVID deniers and panic buyers and social media conspiracy theory.
The climate crisis remains subject to the loonified climate change deniers and yet more conspiracy theory bullshit on social media.

And the three constant themes through all these years.
Tory governments with varyingly jaw dropping levels of dishonesty, disreputableness, disingenuousness, disrespect, intolerance, incompetence and self satisfied navel gazing bladewaveannoyed.
Donald Trump Rolleyesbladewave.
And social media which continues to spout out relentless amounts of obnoxious, offensive, delusional, conspiracy theory laden bollocks at every opportunity.

All three have done significant harm to this country and the mentality of people within it and other relatively privileged nations.
How anyone could possibly defend Trump, Johnson, Truss, Braverman, Sunak, climate change denial, COVID denial or the conspiracy agenda across social media platforms is beyond me.
And yet there are those that do Huh.

For all the many and varied reasons to throw the book at Putin for his actions, at China, Saudi Arabia and many other nations for human rights abuses and dirty money.
Yes for all that we should all take a long hard look in the mirror and ask How and why the fuck has it all come to this.

It's shameful and deplorable.
