Aussies scored at over 5 an over and declared on 303/5 to set SA 511 to win. Another superb ton (145) for Warner.

UPDATE Not made a very good start currently 15 for 3 just after tea break 2 wickets for Johnson.

During the lunch interval of the first ODI between England and the West Indies at Antigua three former West Indies player were Knighted. They were; Richie Richardson, Curtly Ambrose & Andy Roberts. This means that the West Indies now have an entire team of Knights.

All these West Indies players have received Knighthoods:

Sir Curtly Ambrose (Antigua)
Sir Learie Constantine (Trinidad, later Lord Constantine)
Reverend Sir Wes Hall (Barbados)
Sir Conrad Hunte (Barbados)
Sir Viv Richards (Antigua)
Sir Richie Richardson (Antigua)
Sir Andy Roberts (Antigua)
Sir Garfield Sobers (Barbados)
Sir Clyde Walcott (Barbados)
Sir Everton Weekes (Barbados)
Sir Frank Worrell (Barbados)

The West Indian Knights XI bowling would be a bit of a handful but a little short on the batting may be?

RE: Cricket Banter - lovebabes56 - 04-03-2014 19:48

I reckon they would put the wind up any team of today!!

So much rested on de Villiers & Amla if South Africa were going to draw this match, but after adding 53 Pattinson dismissed Amla lbw shortly before the close.Australia will remember du Plessis batting for hours to save a Test in Adelaide a little over a year ago, although that bowling attack lacked Johnson & Harris.I think Australia will be too strong.

SA 122-5 at lunch on final day. Looks like it is going to the wire, or close to with only Abbott out this morning. That said the new ball available soon.

TEA score update SA 201-7 Aussies need 3 wickets in the last 30 overs. Will the decision to bat on for so long (although to be fair they did dec. twice in the match) go against them?

RE: Cricket Banter - William H Bonney - 05-03-2014 16:53

After a very tense final session Australia have bowled South Africa out with 4.3 overs to spare.

A brave effort from Ryan Harris to win the match by Bowling Steyn & Morkel. He will now have knee surgery & you wouldn't bet against him charging in against England in the 2015 Ashes series.

I thought it would be appropriate to pay tribute to Graeme Smith the recently retired South African captain. To captain his nation at 22 and to hold on to that position for over a decade proves how consistently reliable he was. Scored some fantastic innings against England and Australia.

Maybe not,as the top 7 (whatever position they bat in) can muster 113 centuries between them, with more than healthy averages.
