RE: Paris Olympiad 2024 - lovebabes56 - 10-08-2024 01:52 I wonder how lonng are IOC going to sit back and let this contoversy go on. They need to be seen doing something pretty quickly, once the dust settles, otherwise this result will stain the whole boxing competition and the history of boxing in the Olympics. She was banned/disqiualiied in women's competitions outside of the Olympics and that should have been the same case here . This is a setback for women's sport in general and women's boxing competitions. If she turns pro she cannpt be allowed in women's pro boxing. The pro boxing organisation need to br very careful should thr situation arise and they should be discussing this result and it's implications. Algeria pushed rhe IOC too far with her inclusion knowing away from the Olympics she cannot fight women. Her medal should not be allowed to stand and should be stripped and the resutlt declared null and void and the silver medallist should be awarded the gold. If these people want to box, they shoyld have their own compeition. RE: Paris Olympiad 2024 - lovebabes56 - 10-08-2024 06:39 Last day of action Overall I'd say we've done well to finish in 5th place or around that. The three disappointments were that of performances in Hockey, Boxing & Cycling the latter two didn't deliver as many medals as we'd hoped and we were basically undone in boxing by some ridiculous judging. Cycling I think we have to accept that we could have done marginally better, but in cycling sometimes a lot of luck is needed. Also our poor run of success continues in the hockey no medal for either team and one wonders what changes are needed in hockey to recapture that spirit of '88. I think we have two really good teams but just maybe we were beaten by teams which had that little something extra that we didn't have. RE: Paris Olympiad 2024 - Charlemagne - 10-08-2024 07:08 Laura Kenny's 8 cycling golds prediction is looking a slight bit ambitious. Loads of different stuff going on today the penultimate day of action in Paris. Kate French and Kerenza Bryson have already sealed places in the Modern Pentathlon final tomorrow. Away from that Erin McNeice is going in the women's boulder and lead climbing event. Rebecca McGowan and Caden Cunningham are in Taekwondo campaigns while Noah Williams and Kyle Kothari are in the men's 10m platform diving final. Then the cycling starts up again before the athletics this evening. RE: Paris Olympiad 2024 - Snooks - 10-08-2024 10:41 Up first then it's Erin McNeice in the final stages of the climbing. She just missed out on a medal in 5th despite a noble effort. I'm so sorry boxing "fans" are distressed that their sport, which is all about the noble art of duffing people up (and sometimes biting ears), should be thrown into such disarray I wonder you don't advocate stoning the poor lass If anyone is at fault, it's the bloody wuss who threw in the towel in under a minute (who has since apologised) and started the ball rolling RE: Paris Olympiad 2024 - SecretAgent - 10-08-2024 13:07 ^ Sorry Doddle but you need to understand that Lovebabes has seen privileged information that we haven’t and coupled with his degree in women's biology know better than anyone else. The small matter of other women boxers who have fought her saying she’s a woman is not enough to overturn the decision of a corrupt IBA who obviously are correct in everything they say (even if during their very strange press conference their Russian leader got the story of why they banned her mixed up with the story they’d previously put out) The IOC were clearly wrong to remove the IBA’s Olympic accreditation because blatant corruption doesn’t really matter does it) On a serious note I congratulate her because to perform as she did under such pressure was exceptional. RE: Paris Olympiad 2024 - Doddle - 10-08-2024 13:11 I should say, Tola did well to win the Men's Marathon this morning, taking the lead at the halfway mark, another legendary Ethiopian runner. RE: Paris Olympiad 2024 - Snooks - 10-08-2024 14:12 Tense stuff in the diving final...... Noah Williams struggled early on but roared back late on to nail his final two dives. Now has a medal but what colour? It's BRONZE. A fantastic effort. |
