RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 17-02-2024 17:25 First man into the final is the Minister of Defence Martin O'Donnell. He has beaten Elliot Slessor 6-5 sealing victory with a nerveless 126 break. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 17-02-2024 19:39 Gary Wilson is on FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRREEEEEE. Was on course for a 147 in frame one but broke down on 104. Second frame he made no mistake and 147 it is. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Stemmw - 17-02-2024 19:40 147 for Gary Wilson in the second frame against John Higgins. Was on for it in frame one also but missed the second last red into the middle pocket. Jinx RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 17-02-2024 19:45 I'm putting a protest letter in. He went for the pink in frame 3. Spoil sport . RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Joannis - 18-02-2024 07:31 Gary Wilson was the one with the mojo, taking a 4-0 and 5-1 lead, but Higgins came back like a master. Frame 7 Wilson looked home and hosed on a 55 break when he missed a black from the spot and Higgins made a 69 break to win the frame. Frame 8 and Wilson made a 49 break and made a rookie mistake of trying to swerve round a red to pot another red. Higgins made a 66 break to leave Wilson needing a snooker on the pink. 5-3. Frame 9 was all Higgins, 5-4. Then in frame 10 Higgins had Wilson in all sorts of trouble with the reds split all over the place and the cue ball tight on the cushion. Wilson attempted a difficult do or die pot in the middle, got it and made a 73 break to eventually win 6-4. Wilson has to be favourite as he has the mojo, but Higgins demonstrated there was a way to beat him if O'Donnell can be steady and punish Wilson's mistakes. It'll be an interesting final. If O'Donnell wins he'll be going to Telford for tomorrow's Player's Championship. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Snooks - 18-02-2024 10:00 I predict a 9-4 win for Wilson. That will no doubt ensure O'Donnell wins . RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Doddle - 18-02-2024 15:42 Wilson really seems to have let his Scottish Open wins go to his heart O'Donnell probably a story too far, and will be forgotten again by his next tournament. RE: Home Nations £1m tournament - Joannis - 18-02-2024 22:24 Gary Wilson lost his mojo a bit in the second session and gave O'Donnell plenty of chances to come back at him, but O'Donnell just wasn't taking them. Chris Wakelin must be relieved that Wilson won. Wakelin had to wait a few days but his place in tomorrow's Players Championship is confirmed. Gary Wilson is now 4th on the 1YRL and inline to play in the Tour Championship. Ali Carter (don't all cheer at once) is now 9th on the 1YRL which means he's not currently in the Tour Championship qualifying places. |
