Thanks guys, Some good feedback coming out of this thread now Smile

Only had 2 entries into the competition so far though. Doesn't need to be a work of art! Might have to give it an extension for some late entries.

Thanks but I have more than enough evidence to support every assertion I make. I've been in this business for 5 years now and I know way more about how it works than you I'm afraid. I see all sorts of statistics about calls and viewers, so thanks but my assertions are perfectly sound.

Again, and I get that you'll say this sounds arrogant and in this case I don't care, I know how the business works. I know how our viewers behave. I see patterns and trends. Many thanks but in this instance what you say about the rest of our viewers is based on how you view the shows and what you think other people do, what I base my views on is statistics and other factual things we do to understand all sides of our audience. In fact, reading this forum is another way we try and gauge other facets of our audience.

What we're trying to tell you is that, far from achieving that purpose, they're actually having the opposite effect. (Yes, I've read the claims about increased sales but, as I've said previously, that would be happening anyway with the ever-increasing digital audience and you have no way of telling the difference.)
Again... we see the effects of what we do. No offence, but you don't have a clue. So while your suggestions and observations, and indeed complaints, are more than welcome and we will read and try and understand them all, please don't try and tell us that you know better than us how our promotions and things work, and how our audience behaves. Because frankly you don't.

I didn't say it presents a problem, I said we understand there are problems with the framing during the show and we complain about them too... (i.e. we complain about the same thing).

Sorry to anyone offended by this post or that is inevitably going to call me arrogant. I'm not trying to be but quite frankly I'm fed up of reading posts telling us we don't know how our viewers behave and how our promotions work. We spend literally hours, days and weeks developing systems to analyse things and looking at the data we have, and so we do have a factual basis for most of the things we do.

Apologies for my lack of artistic skill. Big Grin

No idea what 'action safe' and 'title safe' are either tbh. But you get the idea.

Colour code -

YELLOW - Girl's name.
GREEN - Main number, transparent background.
BLUE - Looping ad box for xtreme, pic sales etc. Not as prominent as the black boxes, but if its flashy and dynamic enough I think it could still be easily noticed by the 5-10 min crowd while at the same time being more acceptable to others than the black boxes.
RED - Others numbers and info.
BLACK - Terms and conditions.

@NHawk: Very nice! it doesn't need to be artistic. I like how the T&C's are limited, they just get in the way don't they Tongue

RE: Babestation OSG are utter CRAP - NHawk - 22-02-2011 02:57

Based on Watcher's suggestion of using the same OSG as Party Girls had. No OSG at all on the main broadcast, which takes up about 2/3 of the screen.

YELLOW - Girl's name.
GREEN - Main number.
BLUE/PURPLE - Ad boxes.
RED - Others numbers and info.
BLACK - Terms and conditions.

Personally I prefer the standard style OSG I threw up earlier but I can why this would appeal to viewers (no obstructions) and the powers that be at Cellcast (plenty ad space).

I would not say you sound arrogant but you are beginning to come across as a bit defensive, not surprising I guess given the level of flack that flies around in here at times.
I too, as part of my job analyse data and reports so I can assess not only how my team is doing, but where I need to target resources and improve our service delivery. I also utilise a group of service users who meet and give input on what we do. This all helps towards shaping my business plan for the next year. If your evidence does suggest that the marketing campaign is making a significant difference to income then no amount of moaning from anyone else is likely to change your views;quite rightly so from a business point of view. To be honest the black boxes no longer really bother me as much as a caller but I would appreciate less interuptions for bs xtreme in the run up to midnight.

Haha yes sorry... I was a bit defensive but sometimes when you keep reading how you're wrong (from a select few individuals, I have to say, not everyone) when you know that you're not because it's how you make your living, it gets a bit annoying. Big Grin

RE: Babestation OSG are utter CRAP - TheWatcher - 22-02-2011 12:20

I wonder if they need to take into account whether viewers are watching on a 4:3 aspect TV. If so it can cause a problem if their "info boxes" are right up to the edge of the display, or in PartyGirls style, and the info will get partly chopped off.
Mind you, if anyone can't afford a widescreen TV these days, they probably can't afford to phone or buy pics either, so maybe its not a problem. Smile

Normally if the viewer is watching on a 4:3 TV the image will just be squashed. Shouldn't make much of a difference as every other channel will be squashed as well so they'd probably be used to it.

But Action Safe and Title Safe can be read up on here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_area for anyone that's interested
