Been reported on ITV News that HS2 between Birmingham & Manchester is.....SCRAPPED!

The amount of time and money the Tories have wasted with the back and forth, delays etc, etc, etc, a shambles of a shitshow. Wasn't it supposed to cost like £30bn when announced, but it's something like triple that now due to Tory inflation and delays, now they're scrapping a chunk, another failed vanity project.

I said from day 1 the cost for Cameron's train set would treble. It should never have been given the green light in the first place.

He's not going to announce the cancellation of hs2 to Manchester, at a Tory party conference in Manchester.

Looks more like a stitch up.
Leak that it's going to be cancelled, get the opposition all worked up, then announce on stage that it's definitely going ahead (with a suitably vague timescale) to rapturous applause.

We have been here before with the mid 1970's attempt at building the Channel Tunnel which stretched over a mile from each end before it was cancelled. Those sections of Tunnel laid dormant for 11 years before being used as the start point for the current hole in the ground which paid for my first house. It was an awful job but a well paid one Tongue

I seem to remember a few slight cost overruns on that project too.
