Andy beat Jame Duckworth 5-7, 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 in US Open 1st round in 3 hours 17 minutes.

He plays Fernando Verdasco in 2nd round

In an emotional press conference Andy has announced he will retire from professional tennis after the Australian Open. He had hoped to continue until Wimbledon and finish there but is doubtful he will be able to play for another 4-5 months.

He will consider further surgery on his hip to improve his quality of life after tennis
