Still buzzing over the Cain Velasquez – Brock Lesnar fight. Smile Brock Lesnar has never been a good stand up fighter.Velasquez is a great stand up fighter and has the wrestling to deal with take downs.Lesnar was a slight favourite for the fight, was this only because he was the champion?.It seems like Cain Velasquez did what almost everyone thought he would.Except me... Sad

He tore Brock Lesnar apart.

Cain Velasquez is the champ. His first defence will be Junior dos Santos.JDS is 12-1 and 6-0 in the UFC. In his last fight he put on a brilliant striking performance against Roy Nelson...Should be good! Smile

But what now for Brock? Huh

To his credit, he complimented Velasquez on bashing him up and the lad has grown on me in his last two fights! The fight turned out to be a classic “fighter versus athlete” contest. Lesnar has all the athletic ability in the world and is an absolute monster, even with some of his size gone after his illness. He was an All-American wrestler and was close to making the Minnesota Vikings squad when he left pro wrestling which is amazing.

Will Lesnar ever be a good boxer? This fight came down to fighter versus athlete and the fighter won. Brock Lesnar doesn’t like to get hit in the face. Luckily, he’s a beast and can stop most guys. But not Cain Velasquez.

And i've heard a few grumbles about an illegal punch from Cain..He did hit him in the back of the head, but Lesnar was already rocked.Seconds before that, he stumbled across the Octagon like he was drunk. Velasquez landed shots on a frequent and powerful basis and pounded big Lesnar.Poor lad.

Cain Velasquez in my eyes is a brutal champ and if he can defend the belt, I think he’s gonna have to fight Brock again. There are plenty of heavyweights that Lesnar will destroy.Does anyone think that Brock will get any better than he already is?Good enuf to beat Velasquez...Im not sure?he’s still damn scary when he’s running at you like a f***ing train. He might fight Mir again. A rematch with Shane Carwin?Roy Nelson. Big Nog. Matt Mitrione. Bredan Shaub. James Toney. No shortage of good fights for Lesnar and he’s got a great chance of making another run for the title.

Please don't fight the Undertaker lad...please. Rolleyes

RE: UFC - HEX!T - 26-10-2010 02:44

brock said he would go away, learn from his defeat and come back to try and reclaim it.
did you see the cut under his eye?
as for cain it was a hell of a fight for him. perfect?,. pretty damn close.
if anything im now glad mir lost as i doubt it would have been the same intensity, for me. probably the best fight of the year, even though it only lasted less than a round.

RE: UFC - Larny Boy - 26-10-2010 04:11

Here's what happened after the fight with regards to The Undertaker. Clearly these guys have got a beef. Funny to note Michelle McCool got totally ignored lol

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 26-10-2010 08:59

I agree Hexit. There was a proper buzz around the fight and although it was over in a flash it was still one i'll never forget! It was awsome to watch. Smile

Hows it goin Larny Boy?Welcome to the UFC thread mate. Thanks for that video.Would have been good if Lesnar had took him down on the spot lol Although he was in no fit state too really!I really hope he doesn't go back and fight the Undertaker in the WWE.How can u go back to that kinda rehearsed action when you've been fighting in the UFC... bladewave

Does anyone think he'll do a u - turn and go back??? Rolleyes

RE: UFC - Larny Boy - 26-10-2010 11:22

I think if Vince offers him enough then yeah he'll go back. I can even see a special one off apperance for Wrestlemania like Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr did the other year.

RE: UFC - mitchell - 26-10-2010 12:10

I haven't watched WWF, as you can probably tell for over 10 years so i don't know the reason for Brock leaving but i very much doubt he'll ever go back into the sports entertainment industry as there is now too much for him to gain in mma, i.e improving his standup, movement, defence & general alround game.
groundnpound you say he'll destroy plenty of heavyweights, that he may but as i said in reviewing the fight, he's now been found out to be someone who can't take a flurry of good precise punches probably down to his lack of movment & inability to instinctively attack without using his brute force.
People like Shane Carwin & Frank Mir will now realise this & work on a specific game plan to utilise Brock's insufficiencies, as he now has too much to learn to get back to the top & this won't come to him with full effect in the next 4 to 6 months interms of him showing it in an actual fight.
Carwin only needs to improve his stamina as he already has some wrestling ability, which he'll need to use if/when he fights Lesnar again. Frank Mir has all the tool's & skill to match/beat Lesnar but will have to go into the fight with professional thoughts rather than personal ones & he'll need to be more forward than in the Cro Cop fight, if both fighters do this i feel they will be in with an even chance of beating Lesnar as i think no matter how much Lesnar improves between now & his next fight, with it being his first fight back he may have tendencies to go on instinct & just charge forward with his size & force & the new specific game plan of Carwin/Mir may come into effect???

I am pretty certain he will fight Frank Mir next as Carwin v Nelson is set for UFC 125 Resolution on new years day so Lesnar v Mir maybe put on one of the following cards.
UFC 126 February 5, 2011 Las Vegas, Probably won't be on this as this is the possible card.
Anderson Silva v Vitor Belfort
Forrest Griffin v Rich Franklin
Evan Dunham v Kenny Florian
Jon Jones v Ryan Bader
UFC 127 February 2011, Sydney, Australia
No card as yet but i don't see them fighting in Australia.
UFC 128 March 2011, Dublin, Ireland
No card as yet but with the promise of some big fights over here & due to the time frame of Carwin v Nelson, this could be a possibility???
UFC 129 March 2011, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
As this is in the same month as UFC 128 this is a more likely card & country following the 10% purchase by the government owned Flash Entertainment group & they'll want big names!!!.
UFC 130 July 2, 2011, Las Vegas
Again no card yet but given they'll may want Carwin/Nelson v Lesnar/Mir set for the August this may not fit the time scale.

With no date set for Velasquez v dos Santos, i think this maybe set for the Abu Dhabi card or who knows maybe even Dublinbladewave i think Lesnar v Mir maybe on the same card with the winners fighting for the title at UFC 130 July 2, 2011, Las Vegas card. Unless they want Shane Carwin should he beat Roy Nelson to make it a possible second standup title war following Velasquez v dos Santos.... Who knows man, who knows???

RE: UFC - Larny Boy - 26-10-2010 14:07

Here's another video of Taker, very interesting comments he makes too.

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 26-10-2010 19:14

Here's a quick snippet that ruined my day Sad

A back injury has forced Shane Carwin to abandon a fight with Roy "Big Country" Nelson on the Ultimate Fighting Championship's New Year's Day show.

"I am going to pull out of the fight with Roy Nelson," Carwin posted on his official blog on Tuesday. "As many of you know I have been having some back pain. I had an MRI yesterday and I have some damage that may really require surgery. If the doctors do not have to perform surgery, then I will be out eight to 12 weeks. If they do have to perform surgery, I do not know how long I will be out of action."

Among heavyweights, Carwin and Nelson are Nos. 5 and 17 in the USA TODAY/SB Nation consensus rankings, which are updated monthly. They were scheduled as the co-main event for UFC 125 on Jan. 1 in Las Vegas.

Losing Carwin to injury clouds UFC's heavyweight picture. Other than No. 6 Junior dos Santos, who earned a title shot by beating Nelson in August, there is no clear title contender in the wake of Cain Velasquez's victory over Brock Lesnar last Saturday.

Carwin-Nelson had the potential to be a title eliminator. But the promotion's heavyweight ranks seem devoid of credible challengers to the winner of Velasquez-dos Santos.

God only knows when we'll see Carwin now bladewave

RE: UFC - mitchell - 26-10-2010 19:48

Going on what i said earlier with the timed staging of fights i can see Frank Mir (Maybe Brock Lesnar, but i doubt it) fighting Roy Nelson at UFC 125 with the winner facing the champion at UFC 130 July 2, 2011, Las Vegas???
