RE: Manchester United FC - bytor - 29-08-2014 06:02 It doesn't really matter what they spent in the past. We know that didn't work. Its who they buy now that counts. The point is that the squad simply isn't good enough at the moment and this is a legacy going back several years. Being serious it might be the case but the big money is only on a few players. The likes of Mata, Di Maria, van Persie & Rooney are still an effective attack. Defence and defensive midfield is where we are weak and where there has been too little quality investment. Shaw being the only recent big fee in defence and he has been out injured. Don't forget much of this squad is the same that won the championship the season before last and were quarter finalists in the CL. A system the players are comfortable with and having confidence restored will improve the status quo at the club to some extent. We were never going to be challenging for the premiership this season no matter who we bought. The trouble today is there are so many fickle fans out there who expect instant success. You're fiddling the figures by taking only the gross amounts. I wasn't talking about profit/loss, I was talking about what they PAID for those particular players in the first place. RE: Manchester United FC - bytor - 29-08-2014 22:40 Funny considering we had such a dismal season finishing 7th last year...the same position that 'the team the world fears the most', finished the year before. Weird For all the detractors who say Rooney is crap. He was the first player in the premiership last season to get into double figures for both goals and assists. At the end of the season he had netted 17 goals and had 10 assists. He finished 4th in the overall stats with a combined total of 27 and after Sturridge was the 2nd best Englishman so guess he does deserve his England place. He has performed like this consistently for several years. Sturridge, talented for sure and full of promise, has had one good season so far in a team that had an on fire Suarez who, besides being top scorer had the most assists, with 14 to his name. RE: Manchester United FC - bytor - 02-09-2014 06:01 Can't wait to see all the new players and hopefully the rest of the squad fully fit. 11 players out last week at Burnley. Obviously the big excitement for us is the loan deal for Falcao but the one that interests me is Daley Blind. Hoping he is the defensive midfield player we need as he had a good World Cup. RE: Manchester United FC - Joey 27 - 02-09-2014 12:26 that pasting by the plastics last week and the draw with burnley opened up people's eyes on how poor wellbeck and hernandez are, so it was a blessing in disguise, if van persie gets injured a lot and you didn't have falcao you would have struggled to score goals this season so you needed a top class striker, i was probably the only person in the country who thought you needed a striker, well apart from van gaal obviously, now all im hearing is the media saying you have too many attacking players, one minute they say you need lots of new players the next minute they say you have too many and you can't fit them all in, your defenders aren't the best im not deluded, maybe you will be like liverpool were last season and win games 5-3 3-2 RE: Manchester United FC - William H Bonney - 02-09-2014 13:06 (02-09-2014 12:26 )Joey 27 Wrote: opened up people's eyes on how poor wellbeck and hernandez are Premier League's top 5 strikers (minutes per goal): Sergio Aguero - a goal every 113 minutes Thierry Henri - 122 Ruud van Nistelrooy - 128 Javier Hernandez - 130 Robin Van Persie - 135 RE: Manchester United FC - HannahsPet - 02-09-2014 15:43 oh yeah wellbeck and hernandez are so poor that arsenal and the european champions went in for them seriously some of you need to think before you type RE: Manchester United FC - Joey 27 - 02-09-2014 16:00 arsenal signed sanogo what's your point? |
