Fu won the Gibraltar Open, having knocked in a 147 earlier in the tournament Smile

Every time I think of 147 attempts I keep getting flashbacks to Thepchaiya Un-Nooh at the UK Championship when he missed that final black for the maximum.
Gives me the shivers every time.

2015 Masters champion Shaun Murphy has been knocked out on day one of the 2016 tournament by Mark Allen 6-4.

Tonight it's Stuart Bingham v Ding Junhui.

The one thing I HATE about the Masters is the god awful trophy. It looks soooo unbelievably cheap. As if it's plastic. Why did they ever get rid of the old one. Compare...

I do think it's a nice trophy, but as a replacement it's a bit of a comedown.

Bloody Hearn.

How dare you, it's "lovely Waterford crystal" as Dennis Taylor keeps mentioning Wink

I would guess the old trophy had to be retired owing to it being engraved with the name of a tobacco company, but I suppose they could have made a replica, maybe there just isn't the same money in online gambling?

RE: Snooker - Doddle - 12-01-2016 21:19

Yeah, maybe it is a relic of the tobacco days, although I don't recall which other trophies had to change. It never bothered me to talk of the Embassy World Championship, the B&H Masters, the Regal Welsh, etc I'm a lot more offended by Dafabet, 888.com, & all these crap-house efforts Sad Given the damage that gambling has done to guys like Willie Thorne, it amazes me that it's not just allowed, but positively encouraged!

Anyway, well done to Ronnie on his 6-5 win, and less so for reacting afterwards as though he was upset to have won by playing "badly".

Snooker tournaments have always been sponsored by one vice or another, be it the evil weed or gambling. I think its time the sex industry had a go. How about the babestation Welsh open or the Razzle masters anyone ? Smile
