RE: England's Tour of Australia - Ashes, ODIs and T20s 13/14 - Charlemagne - 03-01-2014 00:08 This is England's big chance. Winning the toss on a green pitch. We just need the bowlers to get their lengths and hopefully it will seam. Panesar can't bat which is embarrassing when England are in dire need of more runs. It's a bit hard on Root but to give Ballance a chance someone had to be left out. Has anyone in the original tour party not got a game now, except for Finn? RE: England's Tour of Australia - Ashes, ODIs and T20s 13/14 - William H Bonney - 03-01-2014 01:15 England have confirmed that Monty Panesar had recovered from his injury and was fit for selection. Australia are currently 32/1 with Broad having bowled Warner for 16. There have been 9 overs bowled and Stokes is coming on as first change, so no Rankin as yet. RE: England's Tour of Australia - Ashes, ODIs and T20s 13/14 - Glenn Miller - 03-01-2014 02:44 It's England's session as Australia go into lunch on 94/4. England win a toss at last and now take the first session. Watson topscored for Australia this morning but has gone for 43. RE: England's Tour of Australia - Ashes, ODIs and T20s 13/14 - William H Bonney - 03-01-2014 05:20 Yes you can see why Rankin hasn't been played in the first 4 tests. The afternoon session goes to Australia as England's bowlers are unable to stem the flow of runs and tea is taken at 201/5. RE: England's Tour of Australia - Ashes, ODIs and T20s 13/14 - Jack Bishop - 03-01-2014 05:27 New faces but so far Groundhog day. EDIT Oh and Cook won the toss! RE: England's Tour of Australia - Ashes, ODIs and T20s 13/14 - Boomerangutangangbang - 03-01-2014 05:39 So much for picking for the future, choosing a 33 year old opener in front of a 24 year old opener & a 29 year old tall fast bowler instead of a 23 year old. RE: England's Tour of Australia - Ashes, ODIs and T20s 13/14 - Jack Bishop - 03-01-2014 06:40 ^ They obviously wanted to give Balance his chance but personally I would have dropped Carbs rather than Root. The word on the street is that Rankin is the only one of the 3 tall fast bowlers who have impressed in the nets / training. I agree though that 29 seems a bit late for a fast bowler to be making his test debut. |
