Well that was just painful to watch. Liverpool looked abject in the first half and left it far too late in the second. I knew we weren't going through when you change your formation like that. Once Firmino and Salah came on it got better and a great goal from Divork Origi but Nunes was far superior with a shot many goalkeepers wouldn't have been able to reach. Shaqiri so unlucky I didn't think Ruddy was anywhere near that ball but that could have changed everything. It now means that we've been dumped out of the FA Cup by Wolves 3 times I think it is, and Klopp needs a trophy to justify him being there-maybe the Champions League or the Title but again the FA Cup eludes us. As Alan Hansen once said "SHOCKING!"

So...

First the good. Was very impressed with our youngsters. In particular 16 year old Jan Hoever on his debut. Really looks a player in the making, given that he had a makeshift centre back alongside him and playing against a strong Premier League side away from home. Curtis Jones tried his best which is more than can be said for some of the fringe senior players. Fabinho for me looked a better player at centre back than Lovren has in recent games. I'd start him against Brighton.

Now the bad.

Starting in goal. Mignolet being typical Mignolet....no chance with the second goal I hear you say? Look what he does when Neves shoots. He jumps up and moves left because he cant see the shot and then was never set to spring to the ball's direction. Made the goal look better than it was.

Moreno was typical Moreno, absolute turd. I dont for the life of me know why that wage thief is still at Liverpool, he was his usual brainfart self and did nothing to justify the money he gets paid.

Keita clearly still hasnt settled. Looked nothing like a £50 million player. Unless he starts shaping up fast, he's in trouble when the Ox is fit again.

Milner, totally to blame for the first goal, looks nowhere near fit, which is a big problem as fitness is what makes Milner at his best the player he is.

Shaqiri was probably his worst game in a Liverpool shirt and yet still nearly scored an equaliser.

Origi scored a good goal but his passing skills left a lot to be desired.

Finally we come to Sturridge...He didnt look interested at all, his pace has gone and didnt make one run in the channels all night. If you dont play it into his feet he doesnt want to know. Stick a fork in him...hes done.

As I have said in the past Liverpool is a club very close to my heart for personal and sentimental reasons.
I have always regarded any game against Liverpool as very special win, lose or draw.
But obviously as a Wolves fan obviously it is nice to finally win a home tie after goodness knows how many attempts.
Liverpool rotated perhaps more so than even I was expecting but Wolves still had to guts it out and managed it.
John produced a 'Ruddy' good save.
Sorry I'll get my coat Rolleyes.

I think the title race will go down to the wire. City and Liverpool are two exceptional teams at full strength.
May the best team win the league Smile.

I've had a bit of a rant but not taking anything away from your lads. You deserved the win. In truth, if someone had offered me the choice of 3 points in the Premier League game or a place in the 4th round of the Cup from the two Wolves games.....no brainer.

When the tie was drawn a few months ago I did say to friends & family (who are Liverpool fans as well) that like last season's FA Cup debacle Liverpool will again field a weakened team & more than likely lose against a full strength Wolves team & unfortunately I hate being proved right.Whether Klopp just doesn't feel the FA Cup is worth playing for or whether he is hoping the 2nd string players step-up to plate but they failed miserably.Moreno,Keita,Sturridge,Shaqiri (apart from his 2nd half free-kick that hit the post) to name just a few from the majority of the team just didn't seem to play like they were fighting for a 1st team opportunity. You could possibly take the opportunity by fielding a weakened team against a mid-table Championship side or lower down the leagues & expect progress but not against a high-flying Premier team like Wolves.Fabinho showed his positional adaptability with some nice touches,Origi showed he can play with both feet before hitting a great strike & young 16 year old centre-back Jan Hoever although was at times physically easy to get knocked off the ball (he's still a growing lad) but he showed some great touches & some neat passing. But as for the rest they just didn't step up to the plate.

What the game did illustrate is that Liverpool still have a relatively thin squad & injuries to certain players (Salah,Firminho,Van Dijk) could be a major influences on the title-run.As for Wolves for me they have been my Premier team of the season who have proved they are capable of beating the Premier big-guns either home or away like Liverpool or Spurs.Reuben Neves looked a class-act & will probably have the top teams like Arsenal,Chelsea,Liverpool (hopefully) sniffing around him in the transfer window.

Probably just tittle-tattle & media having nothing else to write & causing mischief but I did see online that Man Utd have been sniffing around Coutinho who is struggling for game time at Barcelona, surely not.

One might say that the whole team pretty much went missing in the Wolves match but here's a very short video of Klopp's magic trick.

Wednesday would have marked the 100th birthday of Bob Paisley, one of the greatest Liverpool managers of all time.

Another seven goal thriller with ten men(Milner got himself two yellow cards and a sending off) 4-3 to a bogey team of the past, Crystal Palace, and the dream continues. Unbeaten in 23 games and 60 points but more importantly back to 7 pts lead over Man City-over to them tomorrow(but let's face it can you really see Huddersfield Town beating them?)
