RE: Dr Who - steven6 - 18-04-2010 11:32 It was much better than last weeks episode cant til next week them statues freak me out something terrible RE: Dr Who - Regenerated - 18-04-2010 11:46 Last night's was best episode of the new series so far for me. Maybe I'm biased because I always love strories featuring the daleks, but the action was better and the story also less comedic than last week's. We saw for the first time the Eleventh Doctor being tortured emotionally by the dilemma of saving the world or stopping the daleks forever. For me episodes with daleks always bring out the Doctor's darker and tortured side. Strange though that Amy couldn't remember the daleks invading earth in the events of the Tenth Doctor episodes Stolen Earth and Journey's End.... I'm sure all will be revealed RE: Dr Who - wade_wilson - 18-04-2010 17:28 (17-04-2010 23:07 )Rammyrascal Wrote:Quote:any sources for the comment about them being that high cos karen is tall as i haven't seen that mentioned anywhere..... hmm i watched that and did not see that at all... oh well RE: Dr Who - Ducky - 18-04-2010 17:56 I have two favorite episodes of Doctor Who; The Girl In The Fireplace & The Weeping Angels (I think that's what they're entitled anyway?) Next week sees the return of the weeping Angels, so I'm very much looking forward to it, although to be honest, they were a bit rubbish, but what made the episode was some very good guest actors and very clever writing. Fingers crossed, this'll be great too RE: Dr Who - mrwotzup - 18-04-2010 18:28 You cant go wrong with the Doctor meeting the Daleks, then throw in Spitfire's in space and Winston Churchill (liked the interaction with the Doctor). A pretty good episode. Therefore I hesitate to admit that I was a little distracted by Amy's legs Also whats's with the multi-coloured Dalek's ? I think I prefer the Original Daleks (the shape as well) although the Dalek's in camouflage green was good (And they can make tea as well ) I am looking forward to the "Weeping Angels" as well, found them very scary. RE: Dr Who - Rammyrascal - 18-04-2010 18:50 as i said earlier, the multi coloured daleks are based on the daleks from the two 1960's dr who films; dr who and the daleks and dr who: invasion earth 2150AD in those films the daleks were multi coloured ps i was distracted by amy's (karen gillan) legs RE: Dr Who - Ree's No.1 fan - 18-04-2010 18:57 Enjoyed the episode as you can't beat a good Dalek plot to bring out the best in the Doctor - a Tardis destruct device that was a jammy dodger? Brilliant! Good to see that the upgraded Daleks come in a nice variety of pastel shades. Wasn't the supreme Dalek in one of the films gold or black? Of course, those were the good old days when a ladder or even a bit of uneven ground could thwart these dastardly Daleks...now the buggers fly! Thankfully I wasn't alone in noticing Amy's legs then? Good! Both of them! Taking that WPC hat off in the first episode had me sold on her, foxy companion. Also liked the way she refered to Winston as "Churchill" when he nicked the Tardis key from the Doctor - oh yes. The weeping angels were excellent first time round - Sally Sparrow was such a great character - and I hope they are just as threatening next time round. Watch the episode but remember...don't blink! Not even for a second! Not even for a second! Good lord, Amy Pond's legs really are very distracting aren't they? RE: Dr Who - Rammyrascal - 18-04-2010 23:27 sorry what were you saying.... RE: Dr Who - Deb x - 19-04-2010 14:53 I liked the new supersized daleks, even if it was clearly a nod to future merchandising: 'collect the full range of colours...' The WWII storyline was a good idea overall too, though I kept expecting to see Billie hanging from a barrage balloon in a Union Jack t-shirt It was slightly spoiled for me by a couple of obvious oversights in the plot - if daleks switched the lights on in a blackout, wouldn't there be blackout curtains/paper to stop them shining out, and wouldn't people think to unscrew lightbulbs, instead of sitting there like targets? I guess if they were all in bomb shelters that might not be an option, but.... I was also a little bit puzzled about how a robot could become human and stop himself blowing up by thinking human thoughts and feeling human emotions...for me, that felt a little bit too schmaltzy. I think there's something about Amy that they're foreshadowing. She seems unusually psychic in understanding how people's/aliens minds work, and she has saved the 'earth' in two successive episodes where the doctor has failed - he's not looking all that heroic at the moment and it's starting to feel like the roles are being reversed. I hope this is all leading towards some spectacular revelation, because it's beginning to make me a bit uneasy, like the usual doctor/assistant balance is all wrong. Unless they're setting her up for a fall That 'Blink' episode was one of my very favourites. So creepy, especially with all the dark sets they put the statues in. Can't wait till next week. Has anyone else noticed that Steven Moffatt seems to be obsessed with creatures that have angry, open mouths and/or super-sharp teeth? These angels, the snaky 'prisoner zero' from ep 1, the smilers from ep 2...wonder how many more there'll be? I'm almost tempted to suggest a drinking game |
