last 8 of the play offs

broncos - patriots, texans - ravens, saints - 49er's, gaints - packers

the semis on 22nd, then super bowl on 5 feb(6th uk time).

the bbc are showing highlights of the wildcard, the last 4 and semis then the superbowl live.

Sorry to invade the NFL thread but after watching 15 minutes of NFL 'action' it almost brings a tear to my eye that baseball isn't shown on terrestrial TV instead any more. US football is almost as boring as basketball. Why not bring baseball back ?

I know I'm being picky but please don't call them semis - they're the Conference Championships.

Quite right, they are not semi-finals. Since 1984 the winner of the AFC Championship receives the Lamar Hunt trophy while the winner of the NFC gets the George Halas trophy. While neither are the Lombardi trophy awarded to the team that wins the Super Bowl (a term credited to Lamar Hunt), they are a trophy worth winning unlike the prize awarded to the winner of the football league playoffs at Wembley!

P.S There are a few comments in last season's thread. Could one of the mods please move them to this thread?

Then the winner of the Superbowl becomes the World Champions Big Grin
The 'World Champions' expression always makes me laugh as the American teams are the only ones who are allowed to play for the trophy.

And San Fran have finally returned ..........

I have a love/hate relationship with NFL, but lately I am getting into it a little bit, despite games lasting forever and them being so slow (only NBA is tolerable, but all that squeaking drives me nuts!).

I have family in SF, and I have tracked the 49ers for years, so I'm so pleased to see them in playoffs, where they belong!

The Saints will be tough, but I expect 49ers to get through, but Packers will most likely be there for the NFC championship, and that is gonna be a fucking tough game!

Personally, I reckon whoever beats the Packers will win the Superbowl
