If Cook doesn't feel confident enough to give him more overs then I think Bresnan would be a better option, despite him having a poor record at Lords. RE: England V Australia 2013-14 Ashes - ODI & T20 Series - Boomerangutangangbang - 18-07-2013 19:14 Trott was out for 58 caught in the deep hooking, leaving England 127-4,before Bell 109 added 144 for the 5th wicket with Bairstow 67 who made the most of his luck after Siddle clean bowled him but was called back after replay showed it was a no-ball.Clarke was running out of options with Agar off the field when he turned to Smith who turned a leg-break that took Bell's edge & was caught at slip.Bairstow hit a low full toss straight back to Smith & Prior was caught behind by Haddin as England lost 3-12.They closed on 289-7,Australia will be the happier team. It makes you wonder what would have happened if Clarke would have brough him on 30 overs earlier But that was hardly likely to happen. With a test bowling average of 71 Smith was not exactly an obvious option. I think Clarke should be given credit for his willingness to experiment and try something different. |
