Yes Cook edged straight to 3rd slip but went on to make 95 and England had another let off when Bell should have been LBW without scoring.

England finished the day on 247/2 with Ballance 104 not out and a long batting order to come with Broad being pushed down to No. 10.

Let's hope this time we take it by the scruff of the neck and build on this position. I think it was good for Cook to make 95, as it probably made him happier to make some runs after the poor run of form he's had lately.

Ballance out unluckily - caught after the ball flicked his trousers. Still England are 355/3 with Root now joining Bell at the crease.

At tea England are 452/5 with Bell on 133 and Buttler on 13. Buttler may have got away with a catch at slip when he was still on 0.

First decent day of the series
England made 569-7 dec and
India are 25-1 overnight thanks to Anderson.

At lunch on the 3rd day India are 108/3. Good bowling from Anderson and Broad this morning. India's position could have been worse, because Rahane gloved a ball from Moeen Ali down the leg side to Buttler, but the umpire didn't see it.

England batsman Moeen Ali has been warned not to wear wristbands showing support for Gaza during the third Test with India any more.

At the close of play on the 3rd day India are 323/8 with Dhoni 50 not out, so England lead by 246. It's a big improvement by England in this match, as I think they have been the better side in all 9 sessions of the match so far.

RE: England vs India 2014 - cosmonaut - 30-07-2014 12:31

India only add 7 runs this morning as Anderson takes the last 2 wickets to give him 5 in the innings. No follow on of course - it seems to be a dirty word these days. England will bat again with a first innings lead of 239.

England dominate again with a near perfect day. I think they have been the better side in all 12 sessions of the match so far. India now enter the final day on 112/4, needing a tall order of 333 to win.
