Whereas Trump has ramped up the rhetoric to ridiculous levels first. It's virtually impossible for him to back down now. And when he eventually launches his strike there's a good chance all hell could break loose.

But my point is that there are no repercussions because other countries know a) Israel won't apologise anyway, b) USA will back them up.
Certainly Trump taking time before attacking is a mildly morally preferable idea than just bombing away and forgetting about evidence.
