Certainly not the in your face style Star Trek Discovery would have employed. Penned by Seth himself https://books.disney.com/book/the-orville-sympathy-for-the-devil/ I only recently got around to bingeing this season so far, and it's been superb so far barring perhaps Shadow Realms for me. I honestly don't get some of the criticism it's been getting, from those who just want the same type of humour every season. The humour was indeed great and funny in places but it's been getting more mature in every season as the characters have been matured by events. "Electric Sheep" and "A Tale of Two Topas" in particular have made a lasting impression on me. I really hope Seth can get a fourth season (and more) out of this as this is what nu Star Trek should've been like RE: The Orville - *Kal-El* - 09-07-2022 15:03 One of the great things with the new season 3 format is linking Eps to previous seasons. Also with the longer eps now they feel more like a mini movie. Season 3 been absolutely fantastic. RE: The Orville - *Kal-El* - 12-07-2022 02:56 Sneak Peek Ep 7 “From Unknown” Season 3 https://youtu.be/Et_B2ZQwxUA RE: The Orville - ShandyHand - 13-07-2022 18:37 I agree this show goes from strength to strength. Two Topas was a little on the nose for my tastes though still intriguingly done. However, it was Twice in a Lifetime that I thought was just beautiful. Perhaps the show's first classic episode, with everything about it interlocking perfectly; I see it as this show's City on the Edge of Forever or Human Nature (if you're a a Whovian). Really, that good! Poignant and morally ambiguous in the best tradition of sci-fi. Addressing social issues with a slight of hand subtlety that's a delight to see. Just hope they can keep up this strike rate... Seth clearly knows Trek's representation of humanity's strengths better than anyone in modern Trek atm btw. |
