Easy win for New Zealand, followed by just as easy a win by Australia over Afganistan. When are we going to have a close match?

Todays fixture is South Africa against Bangladesh from the Oval

The strung out nature of the schedule means that a lot of patience is required from the viewer. I think only a handful of the matches will turn out to be close, yet the fixtures are spread out over 7 weeks. It may seem like an ideal format for broadcasting coverage, to mostly stick to one match a day, but with not many matches being close I think the tournament won't seem too exciting in the early stages.

Bangladesh are batting first

Bangladesh have given themselves a sporting chance by scoring 330-6 off their 50 overs.
It's their highest ever ODI score.

After another poor batting performance, South Africa failed to reach the Bangladesh total.

South Africa 309 -8, Victory to Bangladesh by 21 runs.

But this South African team is the worse ODI side of theirs that I've ever seen

England take on Pakistan from Trent Bridge today

RE: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 - William H Bonney - 03-06-2019 10:12

England make a change for today's match, with Wood coming in for Plunkett, and after winning the toss have asked Pakistan to bat first.

Pakistan weren't good against the short ball in the West Indies match.

Option 1 for England is the swinging ball, but they will move to the short pitch ball after 10 overs.

RE: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 - Charlemagne - 03-06-2019 14:21

Pakistan ended their 50 overs on 348-8.

England in a mountain of trouble at 118/4. The bowling wasn't great, the fielding wasn't great. The decision making not great.
And now the batting as well.
It's poor so far.
Going to need some effort to save it now.
