I am almost literally praying that you are being sarcastic. To think anybody could believe that daytime programmes shown in the absence of a sporting event like Wimbledon, could be described as decent - let alone - public service worthy - is almost too much to bear!!HuhSmile

Two weeks of watching a ball being whacked endless over a net for 2 hrs-no! I am deadly serious I've hated Wimbledon ever since I used to be confined to bed with a cold nearly every time it was on,during the Summer, baking hot even with all the windows open up in the attic(my bedroom), no fan back then either, no video and wall-to-wall smegging tennis coverage all day/afternoon long aaaagggghhhh!!! Anything is better than a whole fortnight of this on BOTH channels!SurprisedSurprisedSmile Only time I've been remotely interested is when Andy Murray looked like a real contender for the title-THEN I watched and marvelled, that and weeks later in 2012 the Olympics doubles when he won a Silver with partner Laura Robson.

I confess GMach this might be about the first time we don't have a meeting of minds! I don't watch the women's game, and refute that they are entitled to equal recognition through prize money! the men's game is, however, incredible at it's best, with the skill and fitness levels on show!

I must admit - and it is a personal view....I don't understand how some people take the view that they don't like a particular sport, but put a british name/face on the court/pitch, and suddenly the sport becomes palatable if not an engrossing watch. I don't get it!! Back to the issue of usual BBC scheduling, and that is where we all should be making a far louder presence felt/ and noise of frustration/anger!!

Just me mate, bad memories of the past with nothing else on television to watch. I'm not arguing with you mate, we just agree to disagree on this. Only watch if it is part of say the Olympics but tennis is a definite bore to me, like ordinary Golf(Ryder Cup, even the US Open is more exciting) but that's just me. Each to their own. AMEN! Smile

That was an epic mens doubles final.
Nearly 5 hours Surprised.
Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah beating Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasellin 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (8-6) 6-7 (5-7) 6-3.
A marathon match, heartbreak for France. Joy for Colombia.

GMach I'm really sorry to say this. I usually refrain. But I feel you've left me no choice:-

If you hate something that much, please don't comment in the thread about it. I'm so sorry, but your post is absolutely nonsensical.

Maybe you'd prefer it if the All England Club held a MrP championship Rolleyes

RE: Wimbledon 2019 - GMach1 - 14-07-2019 00:21

No that's fine Reg-I never actually said I hate it, I just don't like it that much, perhaps evoking too many memories of the past. I am just putting forward the counter opinion to tennis that's all. Obviously I am outnumbered in this but there are a lot of people who groan when Wimbledon comes along. I know a lot of people who think it is too long for a start and saturates the schedules. I remember not long ago people complaining about that to Points of View. Anyway as I said I don't hate it, just don't like it. Smile

A Mr P contest-with them being whacked back and forth over the net by scantily-clad girls-hmm I'd watch that Big Grin
