Enjoy. I'm too old and lazy to go to the Ally Pally to watch Ronnie and Judd play in the Masters these days.

Nice 6-2 victory for Judd over Chris Wakelin. Reminded me a bit of last night for the first 6 frames. Judd missing balls and giving Wakelin chances, Wakelin not taking his chances. Judd somehow got 4-2 up without playing that great then he got his mojo for the last 2 frames to win with frame winning breaks, finishing off with a 139 break just minutes after Ding Jinhui got a 127 break on the other table.

Ding Jinhui and John Higgins are locked at 4-4 at the moment.

Commentary were keen to suggest Wakelin stood a chance, even with his idiot goatee fuzz.

Higgins saw off Ding in the end.

Ronnie O'Sullivan comfortably through.
Tight match early on before The Rocket powered away from 2-2 to a resounding 6-2 win over Zhou Yuelong.

Earlier Gary Wilson continued his good run with a 6-4 victory over Hossein Vafaei while Allen beat Williams in the Mark off 6-3.

Zhou looked like a more rounded player today, playing some great safety, however his potting wasn't what it usually was so he didn't get as close to Ronnie as he has been doing this season. His miss on the green in the 7th frame when he had it in the bag was unforgivable, and after Ronnie took a 5-2 lead Ronnie rubbed it in by making a 73 break in the final frame from Zhou's break off shot.

Ali Carter currently leading Tom Ford 5-2 in his bid to get back in the Tour Championship qualifying places.

So I get to see Ronnie on Thursday evening then Big Grin. Selby or Hawkins the opponent.

RE: Players Championship - Joannis - 21-02-2024 07:14

I'll watch it in the comfort of my home, with my pipe and slippers, and having a cup of tea with my feet up.

Carter completed his 6-2 victory over Tom Ford, but he still has to beat Judd Trump tonight to replace Ford as no.8 on the 1YRL as it stands. Carter already has a victory over Judd this season, in the Masters, and aren't I glad I didn't waste my money going to the Ally Pally to watch that!

RE: Players Championship - Snooks - 21-02-2024 22:52

Unfortunately Carter repeated the trick of beating Trump tonight emerging a 6-4 winner clinching the tenth frame on the black to reach the semi finals.

Earlier Selby beat Hawkins 6-3 while Zhang Anda beat Noppon Saengkham 6-5.

Remaining quarter finals:

Mark Allen v Gary Wilson
Ronnie O'Sullivan v Mark Selby
John Higgins v Zhang Anda

Not Judd's day. Carter winning most the frames that could've gone either way, Carter getting that outrageous fluke in the 8th frame that led to him going 5-3 up instead of being pegged back to 4-4. A day for Trump to forget.

Amazing really that Noppon made the cut when so many other notables didn't.

We'll see if we can spot Snooks in the crowd today, eh? Wink
