RE: The Ashes 2009 - setter1000 - 10-07-2009 12:20 We won that session hands down. Win the next session and we will have a realistic chance of forcing a result. I think that the wicket might start geeting a bit lively towards the end of the day let alone tomorow and the day after(if required). So therefore a lead is vital and we need the welsh crowd to get behind their players(I use that term loosely) roaring almost every delivery to inspire the players and intimadate the Aussies(fairly). unfortunately our previously stated fears about the crowd not getting into this test much as much as they should are proving by each over, to be correct. and 654321 Gower should be charged for being in possesion of an offensive accessory. lol RE: The Ashes 2009 - rickhardo - 10-07-2009 12:31 Turning into a fascinating match this. Sadly the forecast for tomorrow is very poor so there may not be enough time for a result unless the pitch really deteriorates quickly. On the Cardiff debate, I tend to think that they should have had to serve a bit more of an apprenticeship before getting such a big game - Durham have had to host games against the lesser lights of international cricket for instance. From all accounts though, they've done an excellent job of hosting. It should also be remembered that not only the Welsh fans will be there. Cricket followers from all over the West Country will get a better chance of watching Test cricket without having to trek to London or Birmingham. That's an excellent point that slipped past me,because of my dads job i spent a few years growing up in Plymouth and we were starved of decent sport down there. To see a decent county match meant a long trek to Taunton. But I disagree on that one. I think he is a brilliant commentator who has a very dry dead pan sort of humour but I dont think He is necessarily miserable. shame on you RE: The Ashes 2009 - birdlime - 11-07-2009 20:07 1st Test Cardiff Australia 1st innings 674/6 Declared in 181 overs England 2nd innings 20/2 in 7 overs RE: The Ashes 2009 - setter1000 - 12-07-2009 10:40 RE: Englands chances of saving the match rain god dammit rain! Joking aside, if there is two guys capable of saving this test it is these two(Strauss,Collingwood))A fighting grinding innings is very much what these two are cut out for(. Lose one of them, we have a chance of saving the game lose both, then the fat lady may not have sung, but she will be warming up in the dressing room. RE: The Ashes 2009 - 654321 - 12-07-2009 11:37 I think we can write this off as a defeat now!! We deserve nothing but a defeat. We were complacent, arrogant and ignorant of australias new players. The players need a wake up call! A disgusting batting effort 2nd time around. Re: mikey holding, he's boring and unfunny, they shud get bishop instead. If he won £1m he'd complain. He's not as bad as bumble, yes he's funny but he has such a limited knowledge of the game. I say they briing in bob willis, now he tells it how it is with decent analysis RE: The Ashes 2009 - samcooke - 12-07-2009 12:17 Lunch, Day 5 England 102/5 still trail by 137. Oh dear |
