RE: Liverpool FC - Jack the Nipper - 07-04-2019 13:31 There have been a rumours circulating for several months about Real Madrid being interested in Mane & him wanting to move but I merely put it down to media making up stories by reading between the lines of Mane being one of the in-form Premiership players this season & Madrid's falling from Grace & drawing their own conclusions from that. It's been clear to see from this season Madrid have been a team in turmoil with their Managerial merry-go-round in full flow several times & Zidane returning (for how long?) & their dramatic exit from the CL by Ajax. There have also been rumours that several of their big name players set to leave at the end of the season ie Marcelo, Kroos,Modric,Bale etc & if that is true Madrid will be in a period of transition for a few seasons at least.I've always been of the assumption that Eden Hazard has always been Madrid's No#1 target & if that remains the case why would they seek Mane other than a being a ruse to coax Hazard into pushing for a move & should Chelsea fail to clinch a CL spot for next season it maybe closer to reality. Whenever I've listened to Mane in interviews he never comes across as a player unhappy or itching for a move in fact quite the opposite as he gets on well with his teammates & has a level-headiness about him.Mane is probably pretty astute with his former teammate Coutinho's predicament at Barcelona & where he dug his heels in & expressed a desire to play for a bigger club. But unfortunately for Coutinho it somehow doesn't seem to be working out for him & rumours suggest Barcelona may be looking to offload him at the end of the season.Players can be like jigsaw pieces at times at various different clubs in terms of fitting or not fitting in (Alexis Sanchez,Fernando Torres,Lukkaku etc) where often the grass isn't greener on the other side in hindsight. Just on the thought regarding Coutinho I was speaking to several of my mates who are fellow Liverpool supporters on if the situation arises would they like to have Coutinho back. We're clearly missing & need a creative midfielder of his quality but for me I would never have Coutinho back purely over his mercinary like attitude when he refused to play trying to push for a move,Javier Mascherano did exactly the same thing. And should Countinho get a transfer move away (& return to us) from Barcelona having his head turned at a previous club (& act like a spoilt brat) whats to say it won't happen again down the line?. RE: Liverpool FC - Nadam - 07-04-2019 15:19 It would be a huge step up for Mane. Massive increase in consistency would be required, not sure if he's ready. RE: Liverpool FC - GMach1 - 07-04-2019 15:32 Typical-we get a really decent player, who builds up confidence and then becomes a scoring machine and then another bloody foreign club come sniffing about. It was bad enough losing Coutinho, whom we would have back like a shot, but losing Mané would be a big blow; losing Salah however would be a massive blow and I think I read something that said Salah might consider leaving if Liverpool don't win a trophy or the League this season. RE: Liverpool FC - GMach1 - 09-04-2019 18:15 Not long now until Liverpool meets Porto again-last time 5-0 but I read that they have improved since then so I doubt it will be a repeat of that but any nil score to them is good for us. I also read that Klopp said he didn't want Porto, well the alternatives might have been a lot harder except perhaps Ajax but ANY club would be hard to play against. Let's hope for another one of those amazing Anfield European nights. It will be noisy that's for sure. RE: Liverpool FC - Carl-Gen X - 09-04-2019 18:31 I reckon the tie overall will be closer than last time but LFC should still have too much for Porto. All being well we can then look forward to two tasty ties with Barcelona. As were the only English club to ever win at the Nou Camp (twice) we can turn them over again.... RE: Liverpool FC - GMach1 - 09-04-2019 19:58 HALF TIME Liverpool 2-Porto 0 looking good so far. RE: Liverpool FC - GMach1 - 09-04-2019 20:31 Interesting there is a Suarez and Torres back playing at Anfield albeit for the other side but what odds would you have got that happening? It sounds like Liverpool are taking control but not able to finish the side off quickly, but they have to be careful Porto are still a dangerous side. I am not enamoured with the referee, he should have awarded a penalty earlier, I mean what is the point of VAR if they are going to overrule the referee but not give the penalty. RE: Liverpool FC - GMach1 - 09-04-2019 20:57 End of the game Liverpool 2-Porto 0 so it should be easier for the second leg with that cushion and Spurs have beaten Man City 1-0 so that will be interesting in the second leg. RE: Liverpool FC - Carl-Gen X - 09-04-2019 21:08 2-0 Good result. Not writing Porto off but we’ll score over there. Looking forward to watching Barcelona give the Milltown rats a footballing lesson tomorrow night. RE: Liverpool FC - lovebabes56 - 10-04-2019 07:29 I getthe feeling there could be at least 1 maybe two British clubs in semis and possible British in final. Barcelona for me will give any team a footballing lesson (As long as it isn't British!!) They certainly are a side you have to respect enormously, but let's hope that they aren't allowed to play attrtively enough to win easily. |
