RE: Liverpool FC - Carl-Gen X - 15-04-2019 17:27 No words needed.... RE: Liverpool FC - GMach1 - 17-04-2019 19:05 So here we go Porto v Liverpool second leg. I think this is going to be a hard game Porto are a good side and with being at home with their crowd it could count for them, but they need to score 3 goals and technically we don't need to score but it would be better to win outright. Man City have scored already, this is going to be an interesting and tense night for all teams. I was listening to 5live 606 and some idiot said that Barcelona were "a bang average" team. What a load of codswallop! How can you be called bang average with Messi in your side and Suarez and Coutinho too. I think if Liverpool get through it will be a real test for us. Son just scored for Spurs. RE: Liverpool FC - GMach1 - 17-04-2019 20:38 JOB DONE! 4-1 (6-1 agg) Onward to Barcelona. RE: Liverpool FC - lovebabes56 - 17-04-2019 21:35 The toughest nut to crack away from home. If you come back fro Barcelona 1-0 down you' can say you're still in it Barcelona are going to take some stopping RE: Liverpool FC - Carl-Gen X - 17-04-2019 21:42 3 games from away from winning Number 6... Dear Man City...this is for you, you corrupt cheating petrodollar fucks... RE: Liverpool FC - Jack the Nipper - 17-04-2019 21:50 For the first 20-25 minutes Porto came out the traps with intent although not creating many clear-cut chances & we seemed to be sitting back too much allowing them too much space. But as soon as Mane got the 1st goal (with a great assist by Salah) & a crucial away goal knocked the wind out of Porto's sails but scoring 4 goals away from home will give Barcelona food for thought.A 17 game unbeaten run now so momentum is in full flow with Cardiff next in our sights in another must win.In the words of former WWE star Bill Goldberg "Barcelona you're next!!". I've just watched the highlights of Spurs vs Man City what a game!!,game of the season surely & here's hoping that Spurs can repeat it again at the weekend. RE: Liverpool FC - lovebabes56 - 19-04-2019 06:19 ^If Spurs were to repeat that performance tomorrow, reckon it's game over for the title? RE: Liverpool FC - GMach1 - 21-04-2019 16:27 Well Spurs didn't want to play against Man City so did us no favours. So far Liverpool are 1-0 up at last against Cardiff City but they are not an easy side to play against and they have nothing to lose now they are virtually relegated-barring a miracle. Firmino skied one, Salah had one saved but we finally found the net and I think one more will be good and keep pressure on Man City. We have to hope that Man Utd can do us a favour but they lost 4-0 to Everton so they will have to up their game considerably. Slightly worrying is I read something that seems to suggest that James Milner might be leaving in the Summer for Leeds United, who will be back in the Premier League next season, can anyone corroborate this? RE: Liverpool FC - Jack the Nipper - 21-04-2019 17:32 2-0 was a good result against a Cardiff team that looked like they was happy to play for the draw until Wijnaldum scored. The commentary said that before the game that the pitch hadn't had the sprinklers on prior to the match to deliberately slow down the ball on the pitch but thank fuck it didn't work.Salah was mauled down by the Cardiff defender (whose name escapes me) whose hands were all over Salah & commentator Gary Neville had the temerity to say it wasn't a penalty (take your anti-Liverpool blinkers off dick-head) & Milner who has a 100% record on penalty conversions this season didn't disappoint. Regarding the Spurs/Man City game yesterday I feared the worst when I saw the Spurs team-sheet where Lloris & the two wing backs Danny Rose & Kieran Trippier were missing because of the attacking threat down the wings by Sterling,Sane & Bernado Silva (Cities best player yesterday) but what the game showed for all the attacking nous of Man City they look defensively uncomfortable when pressed along the whole back four.I've always said that the key game for City will be against United at Old Trafford & despite the 4 - 0 drubbing to Everton earlier today I still believe that the result will determine United's destiny for 4th spot & a Champions League spot will be extra incentive.United under Solskjaer can be the biggest Jekyll & Hyde team where they lose against teams you expect them to beat & then turn in World Class displays against among best teams in the World ie PSG & Juventus. RE: Liverpool FC - GMach1 - 21-04-2019 18:24 You know it's funny that even today Liverpool is still hated enough for neutrals not to want us to win the title. Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City fans crow about their wins all the time but someone rang up 606 and said that Liverpool fans were 'crowing' about winning the title. Well I think we have a right to, seeing as we've not won a major league title since the 90's and never won the Premiership title(as was) yet Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City certainly couldn't contain their delight at winning and definitely Man Utd(under Sir Alex Ferguson) because it was their mission to overhaul and then go ahead of our record that had stood for years. Football fans are the least magnaminous people around, they want their team to win yes, but if they have no chance and can see a thrilling race occurring between two teams(as it is now with Liverpool v Man City) rather than go for the underdog, they go for the better bet. I think that is what is wrong with football, the tribalness and the seemingly outright spite at not seeing another club doing well winning for a change. This is why as a kid I missed all that vitriol spouted by fans about teams(why for instance did everyone want to "shit on the Villa"?) the violence that tarnished the game for years and went to Athletics meetings instead where the rivalry was a lot healthier. Do I think Liverpool will win the title? That is a hard one to answer. I would love to see them win a title and really rub Pep's face in it(let alone Sterling who left for the money even though he maintains he didn't) but realistically if Man Utd don't beat City and Liverpool win all their games without final game slip ups from City then I can't see it happening but we would have come mighty, mighty close again. Do I think we can win the Champions League? Again it all boils down to the Barcelona game-IF we do well and beat them away and at home and get a good side like Ajax or Spurs then we have a realistic chance, otherwise losing to Barcelona will just be harder to take than losing to Real Madrid last year. I hope we do well then I might start to dream of the trophy again AND the title. Let's see how Wednesday goes. |
