From March 2014, the store will not sell physical copies of games, books,Cds or Blu rays. Screwed up my points spending. RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 23-11-2013 02:25 From what i've been reading they will honour pre-order items up until Feb 2014 after thats it . RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - Rammyrascal - 23-11-2013 11:53 this sainsburys news wont affect me. because I don't get games and blurays from sainsburys. usually get blurays from hmv or Tesco and video games from game RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 23-11-2013 14:36 Good for you the post was about the fact that a retailer won't be selling stuff like that any more with the future being with digital downloads, which we all know everyone else will follow suit in the future. I can just as easily say that it won't affect me either as i get my blu rays and steel books or games as i can get them a lot cheaper, its just a shame people won't be able to have a hard copy of the items rather then just a digital copy. Some people depending on where they live may not have a certain place to there goods from and Sainsburys or who ever maybe there only outlet. Can see a day when all movies and games will be sold via download. Makes sense for larger retailers as they then do not have to take up valuable floor space or carry large items of stock. Be a bit sad in a way, much like the demise of albums and perhaps even cd's. On with the times I suppose RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - Rammyrascal - 23-11-2013 16:04 I know kalel76 was just letting people here know. all I was saying was it wont affect me agree I can also see all movies and games will just be download only, but not for a while yet I think, probably in about 3-5 years. supermarkets in particular will keep selling games and movies physically in their stores for a while yet as they know they will draw people into the supermarkets and people will buy other things in the supermarket like food etc RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - skully - 23-11-2013 16:28 I will sleep well tonight knowing that this won't affect you Rammy Sainsbury's is a supermarket though...isn't it... RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 24-11-2013 16:49 The Sixth Sense Zavvi exclusive steel book at £6.99: http://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/the-sixth-sense-zavvi-exclusive-limited-edition-steelbook/10805392.html?vwo_ppr=a RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 25-11-2013 14:36 Got two blu rays to recommend the first one is the Mad Max Trilogy, i haven't seen all three films in many years so i thought i would pick them up especially as the boxset was only a tenner, will review all the films together as there picture and sound quality are the same. On all three films the picture transfer is 1080p and the films look a lot better now on blu ray there is tiny grain here and there but nothing enough to spoil the film. The sound quality is equally as good with 5.1/DTS-HD sound transfer again very impressive. Now when it comes to extras its very disappointing no extras on Mad Max or Mad Max Beyond The Thunderdome but theres only 3 extras on Mad Max: The Road Warrior, knowing Warner Bros they'll probably release a Ultimate Edition version in the future there is a Tin Edition version only difference is of course it comes in a tin and you get a digital copies of each film. I also picked up The steel book of The A Team which i reviewed a months ago this isn't the same as the triple play as you lose the digital copy but you do get the blu ray and dvd copy of the film. You do get great art work on the front and back of the steel book and comes in a matt finish you also get inside art with a scene from film would highly recommend it if your a fan of the film or of steel books. RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - tuesdayslump - 25-11-2013 15:28 Only a tenner? Have you ever totted up what you have spent on blurays, dvds, and games in a year? I do it each year and I'm an astronomical scrounger, it's a sport to try and get all my stuff for the cheapest price, recently, Leon special edition blu ray £2.28, Old boy blu ray, £1.97 and so on. Rarely I'll spend over £3 on a blu ray or £1.27 on dvd's, £3-£4 for games. Obvisously with a few bigger buys thrown in such as the new beyond. So I do me yearly totting up - best part of £1000 Fuck knows how I managed that amount, felt quite ill for a fews, till I saw a few other bargins |
