RE: UFC - mitchell - 02-11-2010 19:40 WEC was Bantamweight to Welterweight, they abandoned the Middleweight, Light, Heavy, & Super Heavyweight divisions a few years ago. Middleweight Champ, Paulo Filho - 2007, The WEC Middleweight division was absorbed into the UFC on December 3, 2008, so the WEC could further concentrate on lighter weight classes. Light Heavyweight, Steve Cantwell - 2008, The WEC Light Heavyweight division was absorbed into the UFC on December 3, 2008 Heavyweight, Brian Olsen - 2006, The WEC Heavyweight division was abolished December 2006 when Zuffa purchased the organization. Super Heavyweight, Ron Waterman - 2003, The WEC Super Heavyweight title was vacated, and the division abolished December 2006 when Zuffa purchased the organization. I've never seen a WEC event either astonv1 so i'm looking forward to seeing the little fighters who will add some speed to the UFC cards. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 03-11-2010 00:50 They only went up to Light Heavyweight for some reason AV.I haven't watched much of WEC either mate so don't really have too much to tell on it... Urijah Faber and Jose Aldo are the two i'd say will make the best viewing! AND Christie Cartwright (sorry bout the small pic) just click it RE: UFC - DiduHearThat - 03-11-2010 05:54 groundnpound, i did catch the bisping hardy fights, the bisping one went as expected but i was shocked to see hardy get knocked out. RE: UFC - groundnpound - 03-11-2010 14:06 Same here mate. Was shocked when he was Knocked Out.. Fully expected him to win the fight! He was just beaten to the punch and that was it!But that's what happens..Hopefully he'll fight Thiago Alves next that'd be an exciting fight to look forward to. RE: UFC - DiduHearThat - 03-11-2010 14:25 thought some of you might find this funny Uploaded with ImageShack.us RE: UFC - groundnpound - 03-11-2010 14:40 LOL Nice! I remember watching that mate. Those two are crazy RE: UFC - 199lives - 03-11-2010 17:32 that Diaz-noons gif is awesome!!! love the diaz brothers merging the WEC with ufc has been on the cards for a while, think it was the Aldo-Faber fight wasn't branded as WEC just as a PPV. think it makes sense to bring the small guys to the big show means they can put on fuller cards and some of the light weight fights can be awesome real fast and furious stuff. Aldo's been on real wrecking streak recently and was wondering if he would be able to step up to light weight its more likely to happen how. RE: UFC - mitchell - 03-11-2010 20:26 Cool gang signs... UFC 131/132 November, 2011 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This will be some card as the Brazilians know their stuff, i just hope it's not a UK style card & full of Brazilian fighters, although Anderson Silva will be a guarantee, he fights Vitor Belfort in February at UFC 126, so i think the winner may defend the title at ufc 130 & if one of them is still champ then the rematch will be in Rio, even though this means the champion will fight on consecutive cards unless UFC 131 is in October???but the time between UFC 130 & 131/132 in November will be 4 months so Silva v Belfort the rematch could still be at UFC 131/32 Rio de Janeiro November??? RE: UFC - groundnpound - 03-11-2010 21:00 They could put on some show though if it was all brazilian! lol Anderson Silva,JDS,Wanderlei Silva,Thiago Alves,Demian Maia,Lyoto Machida,Nogs! lol Brazil would go nuts! If only they could work the schedule and squeeze em all in.... Would be some night! RE: UFC - Gaz "AV1" Aston - 03-11-2010 21:00 (03-11-2010 20:26 )mitchell Wrote: Cool gang signs... I think it probably will to be honest just judging by the number of fighters who come out of Brazil, who are already UFC fighters or have fought in the UFC. They will always try and play to the home crowd. I dont think it will take away from the event too much if its stacked with Brazilians! Should be a good card hopefully |
