RE: Dr Who - Rammyrascal - 11-05-2013 16:47

yep should have. also diana rigg is another dr who-james bond connection as she was a bond girl in the bond film on her majesty's secret service. before that timothy dalton who was a timelord in the dr who 2 parter the end of time was of course james bond himself

RE: Dr Who - skully - 11-05-2013 17:15

So, predictions for tonight, is it going to be a good episode and be ruined in the last ten minutes by some stupid, pointless plot line (fucking prehistoric lobster)...or will it get the show back on track?

RE: Dr Who - Rammyrascal - 11-05-2013 17:35

from what ive seen and heard, looks to be a good one with a guest appearance from warwick davies (wicket from return of the jedi)

RE: Dr Who - *Kal-El* - 11-05-2013 18:46

There's a prequel ep starting right now when you press the red button.

RE: Dr Who - skully - 11-05-2013 18:56

My review is meh, wasn't too bad, but still not good enough. I liked Warwick, but thought Tamsin was crap. I think the kids finding out and being invited along was stupid (it was badly done and rushed imo), but they needed to do it for this episode. Hopefully next week will be the last we see/hear of River Song...please let her story conclude...I beg of you...get rid of that character. lol.

RE: Dr Who - Regenerated - 11-05-2013 19:08

My review is better - but certainly still room for improvement.

The kids being there was annoying and there's still too much reliance on the sonic screwdriver. There was a time when the Doctor couldn't just wave the sonic screwdriver at everything and it would be alright again. I agree that Tamsin Outhwaite's character was very badly underused and rather pointless.

Those were the negatives. So here's the positives. The Doctor being taken over by a cyber mind was clever and I thought exciting. The Cybermen retained their evil and their dangerous and threatening reputation is intact - no revealing them to be comedy sidekicks or pitiful things we should feel sorry for. Warwick Davis was a good addition.

So enjoyable but not yet perfect. Just watched the prequel before next week's finale - very intriguing. I am pleased with tonight's episode but I still want more. We still expect more from Doctor Who, but at least tonight's story was much better and scarier than the pile of shit we've had in previous episodes.

RE: Dr Who - Rammyrascal - 11-05-2013 19:22

here is the prequel for those who haven't seen it yet

and next weeks trailer

thought tonight wasn't bad at all. the cybermen were back to there scariest best and thought warwick davis was good as the main guest actor. also loved matt smith battling himself as the cyber planner was genius and very funny

It's not just you.

Tonight had its moments; Warwick Davis was fine in an understated role, the kids were worthless and the Cybermen are being evolved by the writers away from being Cybermen (which is dumb).

Next week looks like a doozy.
